Our 3-Layer Barricade Standard provides total waterproof, windproof and breathable protection, in a durable jacket designed in a tough yet quiet fabric, to help you move across the top of the highest hills without a second thought.
Thoughtful features make this breathable hard shell the perfect choice for your adventures. Two hand pockets are secured by AquaGuard® zips to provide extra rain protection for your belongings, and are positioned to sit above the waistband of any backpack you might be carrying on your day out so you can always get to what you need. The lightweight mesh lining in these pockets provides an element of ventilation as you move, allowing airflow through this 3-season jacket.
A slightly longer length will keep you protected when you take a seat to admire the views you’ve climbed to see. And if the weather really takes a turn while you’re walking, or if the breeze is unexpectedly brisk when you reach the summit, Cohaesive™ adjustments at the back of the hood and concealed adjusters at the front mean you can secure the snorkel hood around your face to combat the wind and rain.

This jacket has issues. The zip and front placket are too high, by 5 cms, which combined with the low flexibility of the zip and low drape of the fabric make it uncomfortable to wear with the zip up or even unzipped down to the chest seam. The face/neck opening is so small I was breathing inside the jacket steaming it up. With the hood and zip up, the jacket covered my nose and mouth. Looking down, I couldn't see the ground, it came up over my eyes. It's impossible to get the hood down or up without undoing the zip. With just the zip up the jacket was tight against my mouth and the back of my head, trying to push the zip under my chin was painful. The zip needs to be undone at least to the chest seam, it opened to a narrow v with the fabric standing up and rubbing against my cheeks and looking down it was knocking my glasses out of position. To stop the fabric rubbing I had to undo the zip down to the pockets and even then the fabric was standing up near my face waiting for the wind to blow it onto my face. Having the zip half undone means the jacket isn't wind or waterproof. For me the jacket was unwearable so returned.

This is a very good jacket in a lovely colour to use as a waterproof layer in very bad weather, for example while hill walking. However, as a day to day city jacket I have found it difficult to use. Partly zipped there is no obvious collar and it's difficult to know what to do with the flaps. When the hood is up it is very large with a peak which drips water down the neck unless the zip is fully up leaving most of the face covered. Rohan customer services offered to check to jacket for manufacturing faults. I do not believe there are any. I have bought an excellent technical jacket which for me is unsuitable to use in the city in the rain, or even for dog walking on a showery day. My advice is buy this jacket as a waterproof layer in very rainy and windy weather but try it on not just for size but with the zip and hood up and down if you intend to use it day to day.
