Engineered in such a way that each panel has been designed with the end use in mind, the Fjell Trousers are made for active outdoor use and based on the needs of mountaineers, hikers and explorers.
The trousers have been created with our hard-wearing Multiflex four-way stretch fabric, which along with the built-in bend at the knee, gives them a perfect fit and makes them incredibly comfortable to wear, day after day.
The knees, rear panel and hem have all been created with a high abrasion resistant, stretch fabric. In lab testing this exceeded 40,000 rubs – that will certainly allow for plenty of clambering and scrambling over rocky, rough surfaces. The two-way stretch also allows for natural movement of the body whilst walking and trekking. The rear panel stretches horizontally, whilst the knee panels stretches vertically.
There are a total of three secure zipped pockets all made with reinforced mesh, placed in highly convenient locations to suit a variety of needs. The two thigh pockets make accessing essentials a breeze when wearing a long jacket or coat, and they’re big enough to fit OS Maps. There’s also two drop in hand pockets on the waist, one zipped rear pocket and our trademark D-Ring on the belt loop.
The hems of the trousers have been designed with an expansion gusset; simply unzip to widen the lower leg to fit over bulky hiking boots or shoes. They’ve also been finished with extra reinforced anti-scuff tape ensuring longevity.
The polyamide, elastane blend of the Fjell Trousers make them incredibly durable, super stretchy and very comfortable, and the Durable Water Repellency finish they offer reassuring protection in light showers.
The only choice for intense trekking and hiking. The clever engineering of the Fjell Trousers make them supremely hard-wearing and comfortable ensuring unimpeded movement and long-lasting performance.
Engineered in such a way that each panel has been designed with the end use in mind, the Fjell Trousers – awarded Trail Magazine ‘Best in Test’ - are made for active outdoor use and based on the needs of mountaineers, hikers and explorers.
Fabric: 92% Polyamide, 8% Elastane with 95% Polyamide 5% Elastane contrast panels

The trousers are a heavyweight stretchy pair of winter keks. However the pair I received 32L were victims of vanity sizing. I could slip them off without undoing the poppers. I will try the smaller size.

The most comfortable, probably the toughest, thoughtfully designed walking trousers I have worn. I’ve been wearing dedicated walking trouser for some decades. And Rohan ones exclusively for the last thirty years: cotton-poly, then polyamide, and now four way stretch. These Fjell trousers are fabulous, and are for me near perfect multi-season walking trousers. Perhaps too warm in the height of an English summer, and they would need something underneath in the bitterest winter, but otherwise. I really like the fit and finish, they are fairly snug with no danger of flapping in even a strong wind, which they successfully keep out. The material is extraordinarily stretchy, when kneeling down for example, the trousers show no resistance at all. Once you notice this, it does make other stretch trousers seem somehow less forgiving. Yet, the fabric does appear to be very tough, though it is too soon to say definitively, I would expect them to last for many years. The waist is high, at least on the longer length version I have. This I do appreciate, as hip-high trousers are far too likely to allow a shirt to ride up, and out. No such issues here at all. Incidentally the waist has no elastic, unlike say the similar, and late lamented, Traverse trousers. The belt loops are wide and plentiful as you would expect, and easily accept a slightly wide than normal belt. I tend not to use the hand pockets, except to hold something that is clipped to the D-ring. So no real comment here, though the ring, is a now a sculptured triangle. I suppose these are premium trousers, so a premium D ring. However, the cargo pocket on the right leg is great, being big enough for a large phone, and yet somehow designed so that the phone doesn’t bounce annoyingly against the front of your leg as you walk. The zips on the lower legs, are interesting… there is a gusset underneath so they work as well zipped on unzipped, though I am unsure what kind of giant boot you would need to wear to warrant unzipping them. Overall, premium walking trousers, and yes, with a price tag to match. In my view though you are getting what you pay for. Highly recommended.

For me while the product was the usual good standard, the cut was too big and not tailored well enough. Considering the stretch material it was far too baggy.
