What We Think Got to say I was looking for an inexpensive electric guitar as my ten year old son has been asking for a few months now to start playing guitar, this ticks all the boxes. Did some research and when I went in to the shop to buy the guitar the staff were very friendly and informative (Rimmers music, Southport) and they answered all my questions helping me to decide. The guitar is great quality, looks and feels the part not too big or cumbersome for my son and I have been able to have a go on it when the kids go to bed as the amp has a headphone jack, this is a must... believe me the amp is fifteen watts but it might as well be 50 watts as it is very loud, but on a side note it sounds great and what is really cool is that you get everything you need to start playing, the guitar plays well and feels great, inside the box there was a lead, plectrums, guitar strap, so pretty much everything I needed to get started plus there was a code for some guitar lessons too, but I might take Rimmers Music up on their guitar lessons as the one to one lessons sound like a great idea. Overall, very happy with this guitar pack and the staff were awesome in helping me choose the right instrument for me. The body is built using poplar, a lightweight and tonally balanced wood that is remarkably resilient. The paintwork is protected by a gloss polyurethane finish, whilst a 3-ply black pickguard prevents unwanted scratches and scrapes from impairing the wood. Fitted to the body via a solid and secure joint is a maple neck, which is shaped to the C-shape profile to maximise playing comfort. The back of the neck is finished in natural satin to prevent stickiness or tackiness from slowing down hand during energetic performances. Paired with the neck is a smooth fingerboard, which is home to 21 frets that are adorned with pearloid dot position inlays. Electronics and hardware The Affinity Series Strat has an electronics' setup that differs from that of standard models. Rather than a trio of single-coils, the bridge is equipped instead with a humbucker, offering a much fatter and smoother output with a tighter response. The headstock is home to standard die-cast tuning machines, which uphold tuning integrity dutifully. The body is home to a 6-saddle vintage-style synchronised tremolo bridge, which offers subtle vibrato control whilst optimising intonation and sustain. Frontman 15G combo amplifier Accompanying the Affinity Series Strat is a Fender Frontman 15G combo amplifier, which packs a weighty punch with regard to output. Boasting a special design 8-inch speaker, the 15-watt output produced is more than capable of enabling you to hold your own when jamming and performing. The closed-back cabinet design reinforces the mid to low-end frequency range, so you can rest assured that the chug of the humbucker will be heard loud and clear. The cabinet itself offers considerable protection to the circuitry inside, whilst the speaker cloth takes on the vintage "Blackface" aesthetic. The amplifier offers a crisp clean channel, with a switchable drive select button that engages the built-in gain circuitry.
