Yamaha PSR S770 Arranger Workstation Keyboard Leading on from the previous model the PSR-S770 really does represent an enormous leap from Yamaha. Now featuring over 1,400 incredibly detailed sounds, many of which are taken directly from the highly respected Yamaha Tyros range of flagship keyboards, the PSR-S770 now gains 'Super Articulation' technology. What this means is that if for example you play a 'C' key with the Saxophone voice, then follow it with the 'D' key, the sound will 'slide' to it just as if it was played with a single breath. If you play a concert guitar, you'll receive finger noises as if the guitarist was moving around the fretboard. There are different effects depending on the voice selected from shakes and breath sounds from a trumpet to guitar bends and more! The new (very) large 7" full colour VGA Widescreen display is not only a sight to behold but it's viewable from a very wide angle, so if you're in a brightly lit room or even on stage you won't struggle to read what's on the screen. Accompaniment duties are taken care of with the 360 styles that are available and more are available via YamahaMusicSoft. The backings now comprise of both Pro, Session, DJ and Freeplay styles and make excellent use of the superb voices already present in the keyboard. Connectivity now includes a Mic/Guitar input and there is also a selectable Noise Gate, Compressor and 3 Band EQ which can be assigned to it. Recording can be either via the built-in 16-track recorder or by the USB-Audio Recorder - just insert a USB Flash drive and record your performance in CD Quality .WAV format to either burn to a CD or edit in your preferred DAW. You can also play back audio files in both .WAV or .MP3 formats and then play along with them using the keyboard. What We Think... Blown away was the first impression - the screen really dominates the centre of the screen and when switched on the PSR-S770 really does shout 'high end' at you. Indescribably great sounds and the super articulation (first debuted on the famous Yamaha Tyros) gives an amazing sense of realism that was never before thought possible. The USB Audio player adds even more features, allowing you to Time Stretch, Pitch Shift or even cancel out the vocals of your MP3's/Wav's. The PSR-S770 is very easy to use as well and all of the controls are very intuitive and logically placed. The 'Direct Access' button is a godsend and allows you to easily and quickly navigate to any relevant set up page that you require.
