This is no fault of Regton but since upgrading to a Deus II in Feb 2023 I am now on my third Remote Control holder. Although these can break if you lift them I have been really careful and my experience is the first one just just kept coming loose occasionally dropping off and with the second one a lug broke whilst using and the control unit dropped off . Conversely, my 13 year old Deus I is still going strong and I have no problems taking it on and off. Personally I feel the weight of the Deus II control unit is a bit heavier and that may be putting more stress on the holder which has very thin lugs. I have lost confidence in the Deus Control Holder but will give it one more go.

This is not Regton's fault, but the quality of these has really gone down over the last 10 years - they appear to have switched to a much more fragile plastic and I am now getting through about 2 of these a year. It may be something specific to the way I use the machine, but the durability is something that XP really need to address. The plastic fatigues around the rim, the plastic is really thin here and could really do with reinforcement. About 20% of deus users in my club seem to have issues with this part, I think this number will increase as they all get new deus 2s that come with this weaker part than their deus 1 did 10 years ago.

I'm back to buy another one of these. I think depending on how high your control box is, it's too easy to crack the plastic on these things and they become landfill. The 3D printed alternatives do not have the separate outer element (the bit that breaks off) the design could be so easily improved and a better, more durable plastic used. For a tenner, this is the absolute weakness of the deus range and it's disappointing it hasn't been sorted out yet. Not Regtons fault, but there is an entire aftermarket in these things for a reason.
