“Been out a few times now with the Garrett AT Max detector. It's a very powerful machine and compared with my old Goldmax, seems to go deeper. This machine has a meter to give some indication as to what it has located. But it's not totally fool proof. I like the wireless headphones, first machine I have used with them and the freedom is amazing. In my opinion you will need a pin pointer probe, just because the depth means you have to take out more soil.. I struggled with ground balance the first time I used it, but after you have used it a couple of times it's now simple. It will take two or three outings to get used to the detector and what it can do. It's not too complicated to set up, you just need to take your time. Overall it's a quality machine.”
