About The Red Dog Company:

The Red Dog Company was born out of the quest for well-designed, high-quality, dog beds and accessories.

Our dogs work hard, whether in the field, or exercising the children. When they’re not out and about, the chances are they are in their beds, so it seems only fair to make them as comfortable as possible.

Nick and Chris are field sports enthusiasts, and self-confessed gear obsessives.

“I bought a leather collar for my dog. It is very good quality. However he can’t wear it yet as it very difficult to undo whilst on my dog. I’m in the process of softening it, in the hope that I can get the prong out of the hole!!”

Dear Vivien, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review - it is much appreciated. I'm sorry you are having difficulties with your collar; being very high quality relatively thick bridle leather, it does start out life as rather stiff, but will quickly become beautifully supple. A little natural leather care may speed up the process. I think it is worth persisting with, as it will last a lifetime, but we only want delighted customers, so if you are not happy you can of course return it for a full refund. “The collar is very nice and looks great, but it’s very expensive. I’m also not convinced how long it will actually last as the leather has already started to badly mark/indent where the buckle fastens (see picture). Considering the collar was £85 inc postage, I’m a bit disappointed in how this is starting to deteriorate.”

Dear David, Thank you very much for your review; we always welcome honest feedback. We tasked our Saddlers with making the best traditional leather collar possible, and the Oak Bark is the most supple and the very best of the English bridle leathers we use. Because it is so supple it will not crack, but will immediately show signs of use - this should in no way be misconstrued as a lack of durability. As the collar ages, if given the occasional bit of TLC (leathercare), it should develop a lovely patina and give a lifetime's good service. However we only want delighted customers, so if it doesn't meet your expectations, please send it back for a full refund. All the best The Red Dog Company

“We purchased two dog collars and leads for our new additional members of our family, at first i thought the cost was high but was persuaded by my partner to go ahead and purchase these items, i got told its Christmas after all! Well after receiving them, i could see why the price seemed high, the quality is exceptional and we can see they are going to last, the stitching in the collars is really neat and the leads are really good quality. “Very pleased with the collar, it looks well made using quality leather and should last a long time. The finish was good and the buckle and ring were high quality as well The dog likes it too, maybe it's the leather smell, but she's keen to get it put back on if I take it off.”
