“These storage containers were purchased to store fresh coffee beans. I buy by the kilo and it is difficult to keep the beans fresh down to the last shot without proper expelling of air. These Airscape canisters are perfect for the job. They are made of strong metal with plastic lids. The inner lid has a one-way valve and a thick handle used to press the lid down onto the beans, expelling the air as it goes. It has a thick, silicone seal around the edge and is quite a tight fit so it does take some effort on the large canisters to push it down and also pull it up. On top of that, there is another smoky plastic lid with a seal to further prevent the ingress of air. The large canisters hold a full kilo of beans with space to spare and I can slip my coffee scoop on top of the first lid and still fit the second lid on top.
The effort required to open and close the inner lid on the large canister was rather too much for me every time I wanted to make a coffee, several times daily so I also bought the small canisters that hold around 250g of beans. I just have to open the large canisters a couple of times a week to refill the small ones which are much easier to manage on a day to day basis although the seal is equally tight. Being that much smaller in diameter makes them much easier to move up and down.
I am delighted with my purchase and they are definitely worth the money although not cheap. They look great in my kitchen too!”
