“Rave’s Monsoon Malabar is one of those rare coffees that doesn’t just taste great—it tells a story in every cup. From the first aroma, you know you’re dealing with something special. There’s a deep, earthy richness that hints at spice and sea air, almost like the bag carried the memory of monsoon winds with it. It’s bold but not overpowering, mysterious without being muddy.
The flavor is where this blend shows just how different it is from anything else on the market. The taste opens with a warm, woody earthiness that immediately grounds you, followed by a velvety, low-acid body that feels incredibly smooth. There’s no sharp bite, no bitterness—just a mellow, rounded profile with notes of dark cocoa, leather, and a gentle sweetness that creeps in at the finish. It’s full-bodied in a confident, almost smoky way, yet the overall experience is surprisingly clean and refined.
Where Monsoon Malabar really excels is in texture. It brews thick and creamy, almost syrupy when pulled as an espresso, and it performs beautifully with manual brewers too. In milk drinks, it transforms into a comforting, warming cup—spicy and rich without ever losing the subtle nuances that make it so intriguing.
This is a coffee for people who want something with character. It’s not trying to imitate any other roast or style; it stands completely on its own. What impressed me most is its depth—every sip feels like a discovery, and the flavor settles in gently, lingering in a way that’s both powerful and peaceful. It’s the kind of coffee you look forward to drinking—slowly, thoughtfully, and with zero rush.
Exceptional, atmospheric, and unforgettable. A true standout in the world of specialty coffee.”
“I tend to be more of a fan of lighter roasts with fruity and acidic bites. But sometimes it's nice to ring the changes and this is certainly a change. It's a dark smoky flavour that cries out for milk and Indeed makes a great latte/cappuccino. The coffee flavour comes through the milk really well with a robust rich depth that is chocolate and nuts with to me a toffee note, certainly there is a sweetness. Whilst it's clearly fairly roasted it avoids the over dark, burnt notes of a week known coffee shop brand.
Worth a try even for lighter roast lovers such as myself.”
“My 2nd time of purchasing this coffee. Wasn't overly happy with it first time round. But this time found it really good. Strong , deep , extremly tasty and full of flavour. Would def buy Monsson Malabar again”
“This bean has become one of my favourites and I will buy it regularly. If you're into smoky, classic espresso taste, then this would be a good choice to try.”
“This be is possibly the nicest coffee I have ever drunk. I say that as someone who has lived in Australia for over 20 years where the coffee is delicious. It is smooth yet strong in taste with no bitterness to it. Would mightely recommend”
