Tried this product after using popular high street 'brand' which didn't remove all paint. The prepdeck did the job. More expensive but certainly worth it in the long run.

| needed a powerful stripper to remove layers of decking coatings that no longer did what the tin said... The decking had been in place for well over 10 years, the recent coatings had failed and looked a mess. The area to strip was just under 40 sq m, and on two levels, with vertical boards to form step features and to enclose etc. Tools. Kartcher washer with fan spray, paper suit, chemical gauntlets, eye protection, scrubbing brush, big kneeling mat, roller tray, wellies, plastic jug, wire brush. Preperation. Pressure washed the decking to remove loose material, dirt etc. Application. Used large brush and roller tray to paint on the stripper. Returned to the application after 30 mins or so and used scrubbing brush, adding water to keep it wet, this lifted about 80 - 90% and produced a lot of gunge ( the old paint etc) which was then jet washed off. 2nd application. I repeated the procedure as above but this time took my time to get the bits that were not fully stripped. I used the scrubbing brush but the stubborn bits needed a wire brush to sort. (I know it says don't use one, but I did and it worked). When I was satisfied that I had got it all then back to the pressure washer. In the end all the horizontal boards were stripped to bare wood to 99.99%. Results. This all worked fine on the decking that was horizontal, but the vertical pieces were not so easy, with these I only achieved limited success, about 60 - 70% removal. I think this would be due to the positioning, the surface gets limited exposure to the sun, doesn't get standing water and this adds to the resilience of the previous coatings, plus the access to work on horizontal boards is difficult and faffy. The view of these boards is limited, so I concentrated on the flat boards which are in permanent view. To get a 99.99% success rate I think I would've had to remove each board and deal with them flat, and with 95 + to do I declined that option! How long did it take. Do not be under any illusion that you can paint on a bit of chemical then mince about with a pressure washer 20 minutes later, get a perfect finish and wrap it all up in a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, oh no. It took me about 20 hours over 3 days to get all the paint off. That's hour after hour on hands and knees with a scrubbing brush, hour after hour of pressure washing till it feels like your arms have turned to fag ash, 20 hours of wearing a God awful face mask and 20 hours of wearing large chemical gloves that make your hands look like they belong to a dead person. But, I got into the zone, took my time, worked in manageable sized areas and plodded on. DIY is not at all sexy and interesting, it is tedious and repetitive, I know that already so I sucked it up and got on with it and I have to say the end result was STUNNING. The boards looked like brand new, the wood grain was clearly visible and the old paint coatings had gone, what was left looked beautiful. I cannot compare other products, but I did my research on the net and saw what others had said when dealing with the same issues. The consensus was that the stuff you get from the DIY store is not up to the job, it looks cheaper but you need more. VFM ? 40 sq m of decking - to strip, treat and apply final coating cost just over £400 plus about £35 in safety gear and equipment. The choice is then either half do it, leave it or replace it, so my view was get the right kit, do it once, do it properly. The consensus on the net was that prepdeck was the best. So here I am,
