A deep penetrating oil suitable for both vertical and horizontal timber surfaces. Textrol penetrates the timber saturating the fibres without leaving a film on the surface of the wood resulting in Textrol guaranteeing not to flake, peel or blister. The unique blend of oils in Textrol is formulated to provide a long lasting UV and mildew resistant finish that is also resistant to weathering whilst enhancing the beauty of the wood.

Best Uses

Owatrol Textrol is a penetrating oil finish that is designed to revitalize weather-beaten, dried-out decks and exterior wood. Textrol restores the rich, warm appearance of natural wood and beautifies exterior wood. Developed to penetrate deep into the wood, it protects against damage caused by moisture and ultraviolet rays and provides a mildew resistant finish that will not crack, peel or flake. When Textrol is first applied, the wood will darken to a rich matt colour, and then gradually lighten depending on the intensity of sun exposure.

Application

Textrol may only be applied to bare wood surfaces or a weathered wood surface that was previously finished with Textrol. ALL other finishes must be completely and thoroughly removed.

Owatrol Textrol can be applied using a brush, roller or airless spray with a theoretical coverage of 5m sq. per litre per 2 coats. For maintenance, where one coat of application is required, the coverage rate will improve to 10-12m2 per litre. For original recoating’s, Textrol can be applied wet on wet, with an overall drying time of 24 hours.

Treat new wood with Seasonite and allow to weather for 12 months and then treat with Net-trol before applying Textrol . Weathered Wood (Wood exposed to weathering for longer than 12 months) should be treated with Net-trol Wood Cleaner & Colour Restorer before applying Textrol. Previously oiled or coated surfaces (paint, stain, varnish…) must have the previous finishes completely and thoroughly removed with Aquanett or Prepdeck and the stripped surface must be neutralised with Net-trol Wood Cleaner & Colour Restorer before applying Textrol.

Please consult Manufacturers Product Data Sheet before application.

Surface and Environment

Textrol can be used on all exterior, vertical or horizontal wooden structures that are pre-prepared. Apply Textrol to soft or hardwoods such as cedar, larch, pine, ash or oak. Textrol penetrating oil is suitable for, but not limited to, decks, walkways, cladding, shingles and fences.

For the past decade had always used the penetrating oil on the decking & railing, last year considered 'changing the colour' and consulted the team at Promain as to how this could be achieved using the same product. They referred to the product manufacturer for confirmation of the advice which I duly accepted and am pleased to say we are achieving our 'goal'. As always the team at Promain are very helpful/professional and orders are dealt with fast, efficient service and delivery. Thank you once again

The product itself is excellent although I only applied it to decking 2 months ago, so can’t say what the long term performance is like. However, applying the penetrating oil is a nightmare. It’s so difficult to know how much to apply. I applied 2 coats with more on areas that seemed to need it, but when it dried there were still areas which needed more so had to apply wet on dry. This then left a tacky finish. I also found that using a roller caused the oil to foam up on the roller, so resorted to a brush. Then I had to walk on wet decking to apply the second coat, which was messy. The oil is expensive and I used a lot more than expected, but trust it performs better than cheaper surface paint products. Time will tell.

Used this when I 1st laid deck, no doubting it’s quality stuff, took a chance on cheap deck oil from Screwfixrecently, it was watery like white spirit ( dont know what happened to the oil?) and made my deck go black, had to sand it off as deck cleaner wouldn’t restore to original state, big lesson here, quality comes at a price so always buy the best product you can reasonably afford and you will never regret it Now I’m happy
