Winter Special 20% Off RRP - excludes certain colours and finishes

Grab A Deal On Owatrol Products Today And Beat The 2018 Price Increase!

Owatrol Floetrol helps aid the flow of Water-Based Paints leaving a smoother finish more like a traditional oil based gloss.

Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive is a latex additive product designed for use with interior and exterior emulsion/acrylic paints and aids the flow, making them flow like oil-based paints while compensating for the adverse effects that weather and surface conditions have on paints and primers.

Best Uses

Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive is ideally used with emulsions, acrylics and vinyl paints to improve flow and workability. Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive improves the finish and allows for a smoother effect without brush streaks or roller misses. When using a roller, you will be able to produce an immaculate finish similar to that of a spray machine. Floetrol Paint is one of the top interior paint additvies available on the market today, offering a high quality finish that you deserve when decorating your home or commercial property.

Application

Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive is easy to apply by mixing the product with any number of paints and can be applied to the surface using brush, roller or spray, and can even be used to produce special effects on surfaces. Only 5-10% of Floetrol is needed per litre of paint and coverage rates and drying times, depend on which paint is being used.

Surface and Environment

Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive can be used to avoid brush marks, especially in warm, sunny and windy conditions that often result in streaky finishes. Owatrol Floetrol Paint Additive is a great all round product that improves the finish of a paint internally or externally where conditions often affect the finish. Floetrol is a versatile product, but produces a crisper finish when applied to interior surfaces.

More About Floetrol

Floetrol is a paint additive for water-based emulsions, acrylics, vinyls, and it will help improve the flow and workability of the paint without affecting the build or the quality of the paint. It helps give the paint ... It helps improve the finish of the paint because it doesn't weaken the paint, instead it maintains, it helps maintain the paint's qualities and characteristics, but it extends the wettage and the workability and helps, it just makes the paint easier to flow out without giving you brush or roller marks. It can only be used water-based paints, but it gives a water-based paint the feel of an oil-based paint.

You add about no more than five percent per liter of Floetrol to the paint and it really works well adding paint to, for example, to Bedec's multi-surface paint. When you're painting around a uPVC window frame, or a UPVC door and you start on one corner and you're using the Bedec multi-surface paint and you're working around on quite a warm day ... It's really fast-drying this paint, so once you've worked your way around the whole door and come back to that start, you then get an overlapping section which is really obvious where you can see the brush marks, you can see where you started and where you finished, but if you add Floetrol to this paint, it will just help extend the drying time of the paint and really make it, just easier to use, and as you're working around, like a window frame or a door, for example, and come back to that edge where you started, it will still, you'll be able to blend it in well and you won't get any brush marks, or roller marks left, so it just helps extend that wettage.

It's also a really good product for adding to, if you're using a sprayer, spraying out paint, it will just help the flow of the spray and reduce ... It just helps with the pressure when spraying out through the nozzle.

Without this, I would not use water based gloss. It also goes very far so isn't expensive considering. I've been able to paint my whole house using water based paint without the awful smell of oil based gloss, plus it dries in no time and can be second coated in less than a day. Highly recommend this product.

Excellent product. I use it as an additive to create cells in acrylic pour paintings. It works like a charm. My only issue is having to buy such a heavy item online makes the postage expensive. It would be nice to be able to pick it up from a DIY store. Haven't found any of the big names who stock it which is a shame.

Dear Linda McDonald, we are pleased you find the products we sell are excellent! We appreciate the £6.99 delivery cost can be an issue, especially if you are making a small orders. Purchasing in larger quantities often reduces the impact. As a business we are not permitted to regularly send liquid products via Royal Mail, we therefore tend to use Couriers. We of course appreciate your business regardless of the quantity ordered.

I've always used oil based eggshell paints in the past as they give greater working time to get a brush mark free finish. The formula used for eggshell has changed over the past few years and the solvent based paints no longer self level or give much time to tip out brush marks. Decided to bite the bullet and go with water based eggshell but wasn't happy with the brush marks I was getting. This product is fantastic, increasing the amount of time you have to get rid of brush marks without increasing drying time. Makes the water based paint behave more like traditional oil based. Thank you.

For health and environmental reasons I only use water-borne finishes now. Very pleased with the results when used in both emulsion (walls) and satin finish paints (woodwork). Increased the workability and 'wet edge' time, almost completely eliminating brush marks even during warm weather. Good results with the roller too, haven't got any large spray equipment but I'll certainly try it in my airbrush for painting large model aircraft .

What can I say? For those that use Floetrol on their work you know the difference that just a drop off this stuff can make, However it's not the sort of thing you can pick up at a Wickes or Screwfix, thankfully Promain exists stocking this wonderful stuff in 3 sizes at the right price...
