“Kurtail Gold appeared to kill the Marestail after two applications last summer (2017). However it appeared the following Summer (2018). It has just been retreated - twice - 4 weeks apart. Time will tell if it has been eradicated this time.”

“We've been using Progreen Kurtail on the considerable spread of horsetail weeds in a considerable part of our garden. Each year they deal very effectively with the weeds above ground, but each spring the weeds sprout again. We have been doing this for three summers now, but hope eventually the problem will be dealt with.”

Hi John, thank you for leaving a review. Kurtail Gold is still the best option for horsetail as regular use reduces the vigour of the root system - which does all the invasive spreading. There is nothing on the market that will kill the whole of the root system in one go. The problem lies deeper underground with the mass of rhizomes/ roots which provide a huge source of stored energy. The root system may stretch down as far as 2m into the ground. Therefore repeated treatments are most probably required during the season and most likely in following years. Thanks, The ProGreen Team

“This stuff seems to work on Mare's Tail although whether it has gone deep enough remains to be seen next year. A big improvement on Glyphosphate on this particular weed. Pity its being discontinued.”
