A non-pesticidal, nutrient rich product to reduce the incidence of worm castings near the surface on turf, lawns and sports pitches; bowls greens, golf greens Low levels of key nutrients discourages casting worm activity near the surface massively reducing worm castings and offers a green up.   10L Coverage:  1,000m2 - Based on 5 applications 200L drum of Amvista Squirm now available. Suits commercial use and professional contractors. Contact us for pricing ! Using Amvista Squirm: Spray when worms are active near the surface e.g. wet, damp soil during spring and autumn Do not apply immediately before or during heavy rainfall as product can be washed away before Squirm has ability to influence casting of worms Repeat applications every 10-14 days during periods of peak worm activity  High risk sites and may require re-application every 10 days. High water volume required (10L of diluted Squirm covers 250-400m2) Avoid spraying during drought or when the ground is frozen Natural, nutrient based product - suitable for homeowners Safe for newly established grass turf Can be used all-year round on established turf If applying organic based fertilsers, these can prove attractive to worms and negate the deterrent effect of Purity Please note. Amvista Squirm does not harm worms, but works to create an acidic environment which worms dislike. To achieve this environment, repeated applications must be made over a number of  weeks or months. If more rapid results are required, or you have a commercially sensitive situation such as golf greens, we also have Purity soil conditioning granules containing tea saponins.  Learn More About Amvista Squirm Click the additional tabs at the top of this section (Application Rate, Label/SDS, and Reviews) to reveal further information on this product.

I have applied first treatment on Thursday 17/10 but NO success is showing at all. Worm casts still showing each morning. Should I expect some success after FIRST treatment? John Smith

Hello John, thank you for taking the time to write a review. Due to changes in licensing, the new breed of worm treatments are a deterrent not a kill/ control. Squirm is a mix of natural soil conditioning nutrients which sit in the soil and is subject to the weather (amount of rainfall) and how free-draining the soil is. It will likely need subsequent applications to keep topping up levels of Squirm in the soil. Thankyou for the review Peter – however we are confident our product should give the right results. It is a soil applied liquid that deters worms from surface casting so there is a high degree of product degradation once sprayed, compared to a long-lived chemical, which is influenced primarily by soil type (clay or sandy) and also rainfall. The ‘once a season’ chemical nematicides have all been revoked – for the very reason they were favoured – their longevity. The instructions on our site also make it clear that repeat applications will be necessary – so a top-up dose after the initial ‘shock’ dose to maintain the level of nutrient in the soil which deters worms from casting on the surface where you have sprayed… If you would like to speak to a member of our technical team on 0800 032 6262, we'll be happy to talk? I am a keen gardener and take great pride in my lawn which which is ruined each Autumn by the appearance of sticky worm casts. As a result of heavy rain over the past month in the area where I live, the "Autumn" worm casts have started to appear early in the first week of August. In the past, I have tried other commercially available worm suppressant products with disappointing results. (Such as "Cast Clear" which has now been discontinued). I found Amvista Squirm whilst searching the internet and was encouraged by the three postive reviews. I therefore applied for 10L of squirm online which cost £ 52.74 (including VAT & P&P) and bought a new 5L pressure sprayer from my local B&Q. Total cost £64. I have a 45 square metre lawn so scaled down the recommended application rate to 500ml of Squirm in 5 litres of water and appled the first application two days ago. The following morning, the worm casts were back. Yesterday was a sunny day so I swept the casts away, cut the lawn shorter and reappied with the same doseage. This morning I checked again and once more, the casts had returned with a vengeance as attested by the attached photograph. They had not even reduced in numbers. As a result, and in view of the money I have spent, I am bitterly disappointed with this product.

Dear Alan, Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the product. This is an unusual complaint as we have many satisfied users. I have studied your email and think I can throw some light on this. Firstly, you have only had the product applied for 2 days. This is not long enough for the product to show results. We are not looking to kill or harm worms with this product, only to deter their activity in the top layers of soil. To do this, a number of applications need to be made to bring about an environment within the soil to discourage worm activity. Secondly, your water rates used are a little low. We do give a range of suggested water rates, but the lowest water rate should only be used when other application factors are at their optimum. If your soil is light and free draining, higher water rates are favoured. Also, high preceding rainfall will not help. I take on-board the comment regarding pack cost, but please note a 1x10 L pack will treat up to 10,000m2 (enough for your lawn 222 times)! With this massive coverage, I believe Squirm is the best value product on the market. In summary, I suggest you increase the water rate, decrease the interval of application (nearer to 1 week than 2) and continue with 2 or 3 more applications or until the results you need are achieved.. Best regards, The ProGreen Technical Team.

Product arrived quickly. Difficult to be concise regarding effectiveness due to wintery conditions, however initial indication is that this is more effective than other similar products regarding worm cast control.
