“The housetail was knocked back but new shoots are spouting. Treated those, and now we wait. Not sure how I feel about it. Knocked the thistles back like a dream. Im hopeful, but not that optimistic that it will work.”

Hi Trevor, Marestail is an extremely resilient weed that unfortunately requires years of re-treatment. Most weed killers are systemic, the SBK included – meaning its drawn in by the leaves & down to the root system. The problem arises with Marestail’s root system, it consists of one long tangle of root making it difficult for the weed killer to make it far enough down – the green growth we see on the surface then acts as a solar panel for this root system. By treating what we see on the surface, we are removing it’s energy supply and therefore eventually depriving it to an extent that it will struggle to offer any further re-growth.
