This is my first circular saw bought for DIY projects so I have no basis for comparison. However, I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this saw and I am very happy with my choice. The saw is powerful and easy to use even for a first time user. My only complaint is that it comes with a blade which is unsuitable for cutting sheet plywood but it is relatively easy and inexpensive to replace the blade.

It’s a Makita so you know it’ll serve well. I’m bias as all I use is Makita and never had a bad day. It’s perfect for quick cuts, it’s lightweight and you get a decent lead length. Great for long cuts and at 1600W I’d say it’s overpowered for a compact on timber... haven’t put a metal blade in it yet but know it won’t struggle.
