Unit was supplied with an Oregon chain as opposed to the Makita chain specified by Makita UK and online, BUT followed up with Makita and they confirmed that they use Oregon chain so all OK except to say they need to update their website and paperwork! This said the saw is great, very capable and also very quiet. Run time on two fully charged batteries is also good, sufficient to prep a good load of logs for splitting. Very happy with the purchase!

Wonderful tool. Punches well above its weight. I couldn't have expected so much from a battery powered tool; seems that battery technology has taken great leaps in battery output. I also like the narrower chain which adds to the overall efficiency. This tool is far more pleasurable to use than my much larger petrol driven chainsaw. My only criticism would be the weight, since I carry it for quite long distances in my rucksack but I accept that the performance comes at a price. Oh, a second criticism (maybe not for here) is that the batteries and charger, bought separately, are not covered by Makita's extended warranty.

I am hugely impressed with this saw. Having just moved over from a Husky petrol I did not have high expectations but it is easily powerful enough to take down trees up to 12" diameter. The pair of 5Ah batteries I use will last a good 30mins and then take about 45 mins to charge (each if you have a single charger). It's quieter, much lighter and there's less equipment to carry around than a petrol saw.

Seems ok ,only used twice There is however a 100ml unmarked container of an unspecified liquid in the box which I can only hope is chain oil Perhaps someone reading this could let me know!!!!
