Makita DHP481Z 18v LXT Brushless Combi Drill Body Only The Makita DHP481 LXT combi drill is powered by an 18v lithium-ion battery and the brushless motor enables up to twice the run-time of traditional motors. This two-speed drill will run up to 2,100rpm in high gear and 550rpm in low. It will deliver 31,500 impacts per minute in high gear and 8,250 impacts per minute in low gear. The 13mm single sleeve keyless chuck enables 16mm capacity in masonry, 13mm in steel and a massive 76mm in timber. Torque can be adjusted to 21 alternative settings and has a dedicated drilling mode. The DHP481 will generate 60Nm of fastening torque (soft joint) and between 115-125Nm (hard joint), the highest torque yet from the Makita 18v range. There are twin LED job lights with afterglow once the variable speed trigger is released and a new side handle configuration gives light tool control. Coupled with the soft grip ergonomic handle design positive drill-driver capability is assured. It weighs just 2.7kg, and is more compact (20mm shorter) than the previous BHP458 model. Batteries and charger sold separately. I’m really happy with this drill there is so much power. I had a basic Screwfix model before and it just had black smoke coming out of it when doing locks. But this drill does it with ease and in no time. Much longer run time also! Brushless makes a difference. Unfortunately it makes me want to upgrade my impact to brushless now also!

A replacement for a three speed makita body. This new body is slightly heavier, but shorter overall thanks to the brushless motor. Overall performance is good, but the lack of three speeds is something I reckon is a backward step. A powerful combi drill which appears to be well built.

Lovely piece of kit. Very powerful and surprisingly small for the power output it delivers. Makita chuck seems to be improved too which is where my last Makita failed so hopefully this redesign will improve the length of life. Early days but first impression is very good. First drill i received was packaged very poorly and as a result arrived damaged so had to be be replaced. Toolworld took their time sending the replcement out even after i explained that i needed it urgently for work i had scheduled. This seemed to fall on deaf ears and arrived the day after i had my work scheduled which upset my client and potentially could have cost me more work as it made melook unreliable ! Which i am not !

Fantastic tool - can't believe the power from a cordless drill. Have also got the Makita impact driver - very impressive, especially the power of the brushless motor. Can thoroughly recommend them both.
