DeWalt DCS778T2-GB 54v XR FLEXVOLT Cordless Brushless 250mm Mitre Saw inc 2x DCB546 Batteries & DCB116 6A Charger
DeWalt XR FLEXVOLT: the World’s first 18/54V convertible battery pack system
The DeWalt DCS778 XR FlexVolt Mitre Saw has a brushless, heavy-duty motor which offers the same power as a mains tool. Providing incredible runtime, unrivalled power and increased capacities across the board. It uses the ‘classic pull saw’ design with several positive mitre stops and accurately machined base and fence allow the saws precision to be unrivalled against other cordless mitre saws. The lightweight and portable design makes it perfect for site work and easy to transport.
The DCS778 features DeWalt's XPS job light for improved cutting vision and has the same sturdy, rugged base as the corded range of mitre saws. There is also a handy dust extraction nozzle which is airlock compatible for clean cutting and a clean workspace.
DeWalt XR FlexVolt batteries stand at the forefront of cordless technology. They are the world’s first convertible 18/54 Volt batteries, offering unprecedented levels of power. FlexVolt provides the unique ability to power heavy-duty construction power tools whilst still being compatible with existing DeWalt XR 18 Volt products and offering increased runtime.

So far I have only used this machine for simple cross cut operations, but from my past experience of using a cheaper mains powered 300mm compound machine, the DeWalt 250mm cordless saw is better in every way, including power delivery! The frame is robust and well engineered, giving you the confidence that each cut is going to be accurate. The depth and reach mechanisms are smooth, well balanced with no noticeable play. There’s no violent kick on startup, the motor is smooth and quiet and the blade is up to speed in an instant, with loads of torque and cuts like a knife through butter. Despite having a 250mm blade over my old saw’s 300mm blade, there seems to be only a marginal reduction in cutting capacity, yet the machine is much more compact and lightweight to carry around the work site. I recommend using this saw with DeWalt’s DE7033 stand allowing longer repetitive cuts using the stands long reach adjustable extension arms and end stops, makes fast work of 8’ studwork. On a final note the battery life is remarkable, I have built the entire frame and floor structure of a 12’ x 7’ shed using 3 x 2 CLS, using only a third of the charge of a single battery. The charger included is the fast charger, which charges the 54V batteries quickly enough and also charges a standard 18V 5AH battery in no time at all. Finally the tool bag provided, whilst not very big is handy for keeping the batteries, charger and if you also bought the stand, the end stops from that in one handy place.
