I normally run Makita 18V LXT tools which are superb but as they don’t do gasless nailers I finally had to accept going into a second battery system. The DeWalt framing nailer initially feels heavy on the wrist but is actually well balanced for use over a full working day. When driving 90mm nails remember to select the higher impact energy setting - the switch is for some reason hidden behind the joist hook so can be missed, leading to misfires and half the nail sticking out! No worries though as the tool is very easy to reset in a couple of seconds, just need to get your hammer out to finish the nail. In the high impact mode the recoil is quite strong so you may need to use your other hand over the end of the body to ensure the nail is driven in fully. Operation with shorter 60mm ring shank nails is very smooth and effortless thanks to the low impact mode. The machine works with plaslode clipped head nails, a real benefit as I had a couple of large boxes left over from a house build a few years ago, not sure what I’m going to do with the gas cartridges though! As for the finishing nailer, this machine is simple to use, lightweight and smooth, recoil is hardly noticeable even using 90mm brads. Battery life on both machines is incredible, I used the same battery for the best part of two working days. Haven’t yet used the bump mode on either, so can’t say how good this is. Carry box is robust, but the charger provided isn’t the fast charging version, however as battery life is good, this shouldn’t be show stopper.
