Replacing an older DeWalt combi drill it was great to be able to purchase the body only as the batteries I have are fine. My old drill served me well but was developing problems with the chuck following quite a lot of use over the years - and possibly me using it on jobs which probably needed a heavier drill! I did look at the option of a larger drill but, on balance, decided to stay with this more nimble drill. Actually kept the old body to use in extreme conditions (drilling thick walls) to save the DCD796N for more "normal" usage. Also own a DeWalt XR planer - they do seem to produce great kit so I didn't even bother looking elsewhere.

So far, works AOK, time will tell. The lighting arrangement when using the drill is much improved and most useful. The chuck, so far, seems better than on the earlier model.

I buy dewalt tools for the quality and reliability. They may be a little more expensive but worth it. I bought the bare bones drill as my multitool, which I don't use often, has the same batteries, so made sense to buy it.

An upgrade on my previous DeWalt combi drill. So far it seems more 'solid' and is a great price of kit.
