Was excited to have booked our stay, having previewed the food menu to see our dinner allowance would cover a 2 course meal thought this was a good offer, only to find it actually only just managed to cover 1 course of a very limited choice. The valuation of £36 for our included sparkling wine is misleading as its a £10 supermarket purchase,Not happy to discover in a pre arrival welcome email the day before visit that car parking would be an additional £12 per day,. During our stay we were never informed of location to eat with our dog, once found there was no table set up ( cutlery etc) for breakfast each day,.despite all this it was a nice stay but more pre booking clarity and customer relations is needed, Finally upon checking out there's a £5 gratuity added to the bill, found that a bit unwarranted.

Dear My Vyce, Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased you and your dog received a warm welcome, but we’re sorry some aspects of the package didn’t meet expectations. Dinner allowances, sparkling wine valuations which include service, parking charges and gratuities are all set by the hotel, though we appreciate how this may have felt unclear before arrival. We’ll be sure to pass your comments on, particularly regarding pre-booking clarity and communication during your stay. Thank you again for your balanced review. Kind regards PetsPyjamas

We stayed at the Old Swan in Harrogate with our dog Alfie . We had the gourmet break , the dinner was excellent , the room comfortable and breakfast really good . Only a 5 minute walk and we were at Valley Gardens to walk Alfie . Would recommend .

Unfortunately we had to cancel our stay at short notice, a day before, because our dog became extremely unwell. Pets pjamas called the hotel on our behalf, but as we hadn't given 48 hours notice, we were told we could not reschedule. We called the hotel directly and asked if they would give us a voucher towards re-booking and they said no. I understand the policy, but as a supposedly dog friendly hotel I thought there might be more understanding.

Dear Mrs White, Thank you for your message and I’m very sorry to hear about your dog becoming unwell. I appreciate how worrying that must have been, especially so close to your stay. We did contact the hotel on your behalf to request an amendment, however they advised they were unable to make any changes as the booking fell within the 48-hour cancellation period. As the hotel controls the allocation and release of rooms, we are required to follow their decision in line with the agreed terms and conditions. I completely understand your disappointment, particularly given the circumstances, and I’m sorry we weren’t able to secure a more flexible outcome for you on this occasion. Kind regards PetsPyjamas

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I wouldn't say this hotel was dog friendly, sign says Dogs shouldnot be left in the room unsupervised. We had to eat our evening meal in the bar area, it was really quiet during our main course, while waiting for our dessert, it felt like 100 people hit the bar, the noise levels went through the roof, it felt intense. We had no choice at Breakfast. Breakfast was served in a very large dining room, dogs were not allowed in this room, even though it was large enough to have a designate area for dog owners with their dogs. Instead, dog owners were asked to eat in the bar area. Owners were expected to walk from the bar, through reception and then walk the full length of the dining room. Carry their food, glass of juice etc all the way back. My husband has lost feeling in his fingertips after Chemotherapy, this wasn't an ideal situation for us. We had to put our dog back in our room on his own so we could sit closer to where the food was served. Apart from that, everything else was lovely.
We had a lovely stay, nice hotel very close to the city centre, clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I hadn’t realised our stay included so much (Prosecco, dinner and b & b) so we missed breakfast but that was our fault; the evening meal was delicious.
We were excited to be staying at this historic hotel which was a stopover on our way to Northumberland. The hotel was gorgeous, with a welcoming log fire in reception, and our room was quiet and comfortable. The bottle of Prosecco waiting for us was very welcome too!
