Did you and your dog receive a warm welcome? yes
Did you feel your stay was good value for money? yes
Well refurbished old stone barn with loads of character set in the countryside. Enjoyed sitting in the courtyard in the glorious sunshine whilst the dog ran around the yard. Then relaxing in the evening in front of the wood stove. We all said it was a shame we couldn't have explored the local area more - due to the English weather and sodden ground (that we have been experiencing up and down the cpuntry) and family focus. We would like to come back during warmer dryer weather. The cottage is next door to the owner's house and we were warmly greeted. Enter at ground level to the kitchen/dining area with a stone floor - with all necessary appliances (incl dishwasher - a must on holiday). Then up a flight of stone stairs with wrought iron railing to the open plan living area where there is loads of space with 2 huge comfy sofas, large coffee table, TV and wood stove (and reading materials). Up a couple of steps to the main bedroom tastefully decorated and well laid out with amenities behind the bed head wall. (shower unit on one side with vanity and toilet and another vanity on the other). An unusual but very lush bonus was a very deep bath in the main bedroom. Brilliant for a relaxing soak after a long day. Off to the other side was a twin bedroom with its own ensuite toilet and shower. Really handy to have two ensuite bathrooms (but remember your own hand soap). The upstairs was well heated, no shortage of hot water and a good supply of firewood. We recommend the High farm shop nearby for supplies and easy access to nearby Ashover supermarkets and stores. Close to the Peak District walls. The cottage is on a hill with lovely outlooks but quite a steep walk or run so be prepared. Very welcoming to our children and dog. Pet's pyjamas sorted us out a treat and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended! Oh and great WiFi and signal ☺️
