Very enjoyable one-night stay. We were a party of three (and our dog !) so had two rooms - one in the annex and one in the main building. Rooms, service and food all excellent and very dog-friendly (although no dog treats, no dog bed etc). A little on the expensive side (you tend to pay 'Chatsworth' prices in this area) but a lovely, quiet location and would stay again.

We had 3 nights at the Devonshire Arms and the staff were exceptional, the food was excellent and the hotel was very dog friendly throughout. We were able to purchase a pass for Chatsworth House at £26 each which allowed us access to the house/gardens/car park throughout our entire stay. Our room was full of character with a four poster bed but was almost 4 foot off the floor with 2 steps up to it which may be difficult for someone less mobile.

Dog friendly staff, great food, espacially breakfast, but 4 feet off the ground four poster bed difficult to get on and off. No spare step to assist so had use a chair! Not ideal for guests in their 70's. We would not have made this booking had we known the bed was so high off the ground.

We spent 3 nights at this delightful hotel with our whippets. Our room was comfortable and tastefully furnished. The meals we had in the restaurant were excellent and delicious - the quality of the meat was exceptional. All the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back sometime.

Set in a small village the Devonshire Arms looked very inviting and the staff were indeed warm friendly and very welcoming. The room was cosy, clean and well maintained. The food was excellent and very hearty and the staff took care to position us at a table that was discreet so Martha didn't get distracted. Martha looked forward to her breakfast sausage. I would particularly like to thank the staff for the warm friendly way that they treated our bundle of joy, Martha loved all her cuddles and strokes.

We stayed for one night with our three dogs. The booking process was really easy thanks to Petspyjamas. The room we were allocated was quite small - glad our dogs are also small as we managed to squeeze in but may not be appropriate for more than one dog larger than a labrador. The photographs that appear like the rooms are more 'suites' are not quite as we found it. The arrival treats were thoughtful, bowls, a ball and a small treat for each dog. No dog towels or dog bed 'area' is allocated. The room was close to outside access for toileting, which had its advantages but we heard the comings and goings of everyone else staying, unfortunately. The room was also quite chilly on arrival with an electric heater, but we didn't use it as it was at dog tail level! It did warm up over the evening. The most beautiful walks were on the doorstep. The staff were very welcoming and lovely - especially Claire, our waitress for dinner (eating here is a MUST!) she just brought us joy and warmth to our evening and it was a pleasure to be served by her. The food is great with a clever menu and a talented chef. You can dine with your dog on request. The overall price was quite high given the size of the room and we were only there one night. However, I would recommend this as a lovely place for a short break holiday with furry ones...
