Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Our light up dog collar proved really useful at night - to follow Woozle as she ran around the grounds and ensure we could clean up after her
We have been going to this area of Devon for 30 years, but it’s the first time we have stayed at Bovey Castle with our dog Woozle. Thanks to Pets Pyjamas, we secured a great room rate, and the hotel made the effort to call us ahead of time to check what our dog Woozle needed. As a result, we had a dog crate and dog bowls ready in our room. The hotel itself has limited areas for dogs, and there is a request to keep dogs on a short leash at all times. Given the hotel has a lovely golf course all around it, as well as a shooting and archery range, you have to take care that your pet doesn’t stray too far on its own. The huge plus for Bovey Castle is its location: The grounds are extensive and beautiful. There is now a walled garden near the original stables, offering a gorgeous wild flower garden which the dog loved- and is gated so provides a lovely safe run space. We walked 3 different ways to the nearby village of North Bovey- it has a pub with great food called the Ring of Bells. There is a lovely forest walk along the river back to the hotel, and this route enables the dog to walk off lead, and our woozle loved the chance to jump in and swim.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? for a 5* hotel the cost of the stay was on par with other similar establishments. It's not cheap but worth it.
Bovey Castle hotel is a beautiful 5* hotel set in fabulous grounds. Definitely a place for golfers but for those wishing to relax there is a wonderful spa and great indoor pool. We were extremely lucky with the weather when we stayed and spent a lot of the time sitting out on the terrace when we weren't being taken for a walk to North Bovey. It is very dog friendly, our dog was spoilt by all the staff.

An amazing setting , great staff , but for money spent - room was very poor , small and too warm , not special enough for 5 star hotel . Brassiere food was average , cocktails at 16£ each very average and Rose wine served warm . All a bit disappointing. Could do better .

Lovely setting, great staff and luxurious accommodation. We stayed (with Bailey the border terrier) on a two night package for my partner's 50th birthday. The spa treatments are brilliant. The only downside for a dog friendly hotel is the lack of dining options with-pooch as Bailey is used to enjoying bars and restaurants wherever we go. But they are happy for dogs to be left in the room which is an improvement on some places.

We had a fantastic few days stay at Bovey Castle. It's definitely worth a visit for any family and dogs are very welcome, which was one of the main reasons that we came. Lots of activities to do, plentiful walks soaking up the gorgeous views and scenery. The staff are very friendly and the afternoon tea is a must to have on the terrace overlooking Dartmoor (weather depending).

Lovely venue, beautiful building, delightful staff. Very welcoming. Staff were nice with the dogs.Everything was ready for them. Our rooms were lovely, spacious and well resourced. Dogs were not allowed in all public rooms (lesson learned and we’ll check in future). We were offered alternative arrangements to leaving the dogs in the room, but this is tolerance, not inclusion. The spa pool was too chilly for a leisure experience. The food was very pleasant but not 5* Any experience here would be very dependent on the weather esp with dogs. We were.lucky. We do acknowledge that the hospitality industry is struggling with shortages of all kinds, but a 5* experience at 5* pricing needs to deliver beyond criticism.
