Really great dog friendly hotel with helpful caring staff. We stayed with our 2 westies over the easter bank hols as a special Birthday treat. Everything was perfect and made extra special with a small Birthday cake in our room on arrival and complimentary champagne on our departure. The hotel was super clean and the food excellent. We look forward to bieng back there again soon, thank you.

We arrived and were greeted with open arms, lovely welcome. We had dinner in the New York Bar which was great and my dog was very well behaved and relaxed. When we arrived we were told that breakfast was in the main dining area and that we should have breakfast in the bar as this is where dogs are allowed. We came down in the morning and I went to sit in the bar. My mum went to let them know we were there and was told we should go through to the dining room. We stated that we were told to eat in the bar area and so the waitress went to check. She came back and said no we were to go through to the dining area and that there was a table for us. I assumed there was a special area or something and took guidance from the hotel staff. My dog could not settle well although he was not noisy, but we were seated right by the kitchen door so every time it opened he got up and barked once or twice before resettling. Halfway through eating my breakfast the reception manager came over to my table and said would she like her to take my dog so I can finish my breakfast in peace, I asked if there was a problem and she said we should not be in the dining area with a dog as it was noisy. (There was also another dog somewhere barking not just mine). I informed hr#er that we were seated here and that I had queried this strongly as I was told by the reception manager on arrival that we should have breakfast in the bar area. I did not finish my breakfast as I could hear my dog getting upset and the fact that I was so upset and angry I could have cried. I went straight out to reception to get my dog and spoke with the staff. The whole situation ruined my break away - I choose this hotel as it seemed dog friendly and a real treat for all of us including my mum who has been looking after my sick father and needed a break. I felt belittled, stupid and unwelcome after this incident. The reception manager was very friendly and did her best but I was already upset. To top off the day my purse was stolen from my bag (not that this has anything to do with the hotel)
