Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Just such a shame that we were treated to such poor service and food on Sunday as the hotel and grounds are really lovely and it is very dog friendly

“We stayed for a three night break Sunday to Wednesday , dinner bed and breakfast at a cost of £900. The hotel was beautiful, the grounds fabulous and perfect for walking our dog, our room was lovely and the dinners on Monday and Tuesday were lovely. BUT our dinner on Sunday was truly awful. We had invited a friend to join us for dinner as a special occasion. The food was more cheap pub than fine dining . Our roast beef dinners were served cold on cold plates with congealed greasy 'jus', soft cold Yorkshire pudding, horrible roast potatoes and cold veg , and just inedible. It looked like the leftovers from the lunch service earlier ( Sunday lunch is 2-9pm and our table was at 7pm) . We sent it back and 15 minutes later we were given warm portions of chunks of overcooked beef - a bit better but not the fine dining experience we were promised and we couldn't eat much of it - it was it was greasy. They gave us some undercooked pigs in blankets which we didn't want ( they looked horrible) Then we were deserted, no one came to see if the food was or if we and we had finished , no one came to clear the plates or offer us dessert. I knocked on the kitchen doors for 15 minutes calling out ' is anyone serving in the restaurant' and although I could hear people , I was ignored. I had to go to reception ask them to find someone. My friend was very angry and spoke to the restaurant manager , and also gave her phone number for the General Manager to phone her on Monday - I also spoke to the Hemeral Manager on Monday. It was 9pm before we were offered our desserts and none of us wanted any by then. The General Manager was very apologetic when I spoke to him on Monday, and we were given a refund of £90 for the food allowance on Friday. It transpires that The Head Chef was off on Sunday, and although the earlier Sunday service and food was their usual standard, they totally messed up for our dinner and our food wasn't cooked freshly and the customer service was awful . For the rest of the stay we had exceptional service and excellent food, but the experience on Friday did ruin the stay . Also our keys kept not working and had to be reprogrammed several times a day until an engineer reprogrammed the door lock on Tuesday. It was such a shame because the hotel and grounds are really lovely, and we would have returned of it hadn't been for the awful evening on Friday with our friend who we had invited to have a lovely fine dining experience and to spend some relaxing time with us”

“Unit well located in courtyard, aircon controls easy to use, very clean well appointed and tidied nicely, but there were two heavy fire doors to get in and out, hard to negotiate with two dogs, rather than a single sliding door for example. Also the small bar fridge broke down replaced smartly but with one that had no shelves but that soon broke down itself so the open dog food was spoiled. TV only free view which was odd in such a upmarket hotel, could cast from our iPad to TV screen for us to use our Netflix but instructions difficult to follow so had to get a maintenance chap to help. Staff very pleasant and helpful and kind to dogs. Grounds lovely and great for dog walking. Breakfast very good and area set aside for those with dogs well appointed. Car parking in front of unit was appreciated. On getting home and unpacking we realised we had accidentally taken a small dog throw belonging to hotel, rang them and they kindly said don’t post back, keep it.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our break. The hotel had everything we needed. The room was very comfortable & the disabled facilities were excellent. The staff were friendly & helpful, doing a great job. We enjoyed our meals, as the food was of a high standard & served in pleasant surroundings. The grounds are wonderful and our two cockapoos had a great time running around. We hope to be back.”
