“Dog friendly- err not really .. We was sent an arrival email a few days before which included questions like room temperature, and add ons like booze / flowers / chocolate so we requested a bottle of rose (£40) seeing as it was for our honeymoon and they hadn't even bothered doing it when we arrived. We was greeted with a sheet of paper with Do’s & Don’t’s as a pet visitor (half the info was common sense and the other half was just incorrect as per website / members of staff) This hotel isn’t as 4* as they advertised. Poor customer service within hotel. Housekeeping was half-assed (when we arrived back 5 hours later and no one had come to do it) forgetting to replace toilet rolls etc. Especially when you find out only 8 guests were staying .. The members of staff would give you mixed information when questioned about general stuff like is the champagne bar dog friendly .. or do we need to book breakfast.. Room service was suppose to be between 1pm-9pm (per information we was handed on arrival) called at 5pm to order food and the ‘kitchen was closed until 6pm’ every night .. but not closed to those able to eat in the restaurant without a dog .. Breakfast in the chapel restaurant was lovely. Bathroom was lovely. Bed was not comfortable. Window on ground floor had no frosting so anyone could look in and they did. I could go on and tell you all the little things but really and truly would I recommend this hotel .. maybe for 1 night. It is beautiful but really felt deflated. Not great when you’re on your honeymoon. If we hadn’t of payed so much to stay for 4 nights we would have found somewhere else to stay for the remaining nights.”

“Alas, it wasn't as perfect and special as I had hoped for. It was a surprise for my Husband and so when we arrived he was very surprised. We did arrive a little late due to traffic on Monday evening (8.50p,). The only person on reception was on the telephone and we had to wait 10 minutes before he could sort us out. We weren't shown to our room and no help with luggage which would have been helpful as I had my two dogs on leads. When we found our room there were no dog beds, bowls, blankets or treats and it took a fair time to get it all sorted. As I had booked via Pets in Pyjamas I was expecting much more. Also, the staff didn't seem at all happy. I saw one girl in tears and a waitress being told off in front of the diners. As you can tell I felt very let down and I feel that it might be worth you going along and see how the experience is for you. I feel they let you down. It was very expensive but I thought it would be worth it but alas no.”

“Had the best time. Awesome room staff and food. Extra special when you can take the dog who loved her sausage for breakfast. Can’t wait to go back”

“Very friendly welcoming staff. Very accommodating after our long drive. Lots of history and accommodation finished to a high standard. Good breakfast choices and our dog loved the breakfast sausage. Room was very comfortable and luxurious. Very comfortable stay. Room was on the ground floor making it easy to access with the dog. Parking was limited and this was also affected by a number of guests parking inconsiderately over more than one space but this wasn’t the hotels fault. We didn’t get a dog bed, bowls or treats for our dog. I’m not sure if this was a small over sight but didn’t affect our experience as we had bought our dogs own bed and bowls. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return again in the future.”

“We had a wonderful time and we will definitely visit again! They were so dog friendly and the staff were amazing and so friendly. Our room was so nice and clean and modern and comfortable and the restaurants served delicious food and quick friendly service we didn’t want to leave ! We stayed four nights.”
