“Pleasant pub, really friendly staff, but lacking one vital thing for us: no information about local dog walks. The pub is located on a busy, winding country lane without pavements. The lane skirts a large residential development that turns its back onto the road. It was only on the morning we were due to leave that we found a way of getting into the estate, which is criss-crossed with paths linking various 'greens', which were a little bland and featureless but better than nothing. Now we know, it wouldn't stop us staying again but despite all the other good features, it would likely only be as a last resort.”

“We stayed overnight when traveling to Devon, and stayed again on the return journey, I realised on initial arrival that I hadn't requested an accessable room, no problems for staff, a bit of jiggling on the diary and both bookings sorted, fantastic service, the room itself was lovely and comfortable. The Bower is a lovely building, plenty of character, excellent choice of food and beer, lovely, helpful staff. Easy to find, and plenty of parking.”

“We decided to break our journey down to the South West with a one-night stay en route. Searched Pets Pyjamas for "dog-friendly in Somerset". First choice was booked up but the Bower Inn could accommodate us. The room was perfect with a lounge/kitchen area ideal for putting a dog bed down. Food was first class - so was the beer - and an excellent breakfast too. Friendly welcome, the team couldn't do enough for us. If I could improve one thing it would be an area to let dogs stretch their legs a bit - the road past the pub is not especially dog-walker friendly”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? If you stay in Room 2 be careful with key, it doesn’t fit in lock to Bedroom!

“Very welcoming staff, cosy room was lovely, reading cosy thought it would be small, so was pleasantly surprised. Very clean, smelt lovely, complementary biscuits were a nice treat. Food was good, especially breakfast. Dogs along with us loved our stay.”

“Lovely stay with our dog, comfortable room and great food. The only disappointment was that there was nowhere to take your dog for a little walk from the pub as had to walk along a road with no path and cars passing you. We live really rural and our young dog was a bit overwhelmed so had to bring him back. There is a car park so he could have a quick wee but not ideal. However inside was really dog friendly and Jack loved his sausage at breakfast”

“EVERYTHING was just so good. Comfortable bed. Really good shower. Food was exceptional. Service? NOTHING was too much trouble.”
