You describe this as a 5* star dog friendly Inn. Somehow it does seem to have 5*s from the AA but I fail to see how. We stayed in other 3* B&Bs which were excellent in every way and far superior to this property. It advertises that it is part of Johansens and Conde Nast on the door - but it is not so that in itself is false representation. The property exterior is shabby and looks more like a third rate motel. Just outside at the back there are skips full of dirty old matresses. Whilst we could see the mountains from our room, we could also see a re-cycling centre and the petrol garage next door. The interior is dirty, particularly the stairs that lead to the restaurant. There is no other way to describe it. The floor in our room certainly hadn't been hoovered - my daughter dropped a black tee shirt and picked it up covered in fluff and someone else's hair. The bathroom window had mildew around the frame and stain marks on the shelf over the toilet (which didn't flush properly). We were provided with less than a quarter of a toilet roll and no spare. The toiletries were nice and the towels although insufficient for two people were a decent quality. The 'rain forest' shower was little more than a trickle and no hot water. We booked a twin room but they were very close together and bedding of an inferior quality. The pillows on my bed stunk of cigarette smoke. Dirty glasses had been left on the outside tables when we came in early evening and the same ones still there when we left in the morning. The hotel is clearly understaffed and those who are there obviously are not enjoying life. Apart from the lady who checked us in, service was at best surly. The restaurant experience was unacceptable. Very little choice on the menu for a restaurant that is supposed to specialise in local fish and shellfish. There was no fish available other than salmon and only overpriced lobster and scallops to choose from. I had to send the water glasses back as the table had been set with dirty glasses - finger prints and traces of lipstick. If this wasn't bad enough my glass of wine arrived in a dirty glass and also had to be sent back. The replacement was delivered by a grumpy barman whose personal hygiene was lacking to say the least. The restaurant was empty other than a couple of tables and there was nobody in the bar so I'm afraid the welcoming atmosphere you describe was non existent. The food can at best be described as mediocre. However, most importantly from a Pet Friendly travel business, you need to know that this property is definitely 'dogs allowed' rather than 'dogs welcomed'. The water bowl at the entrance was empty and clearly hadn't seen water for a very long time given its dirty crusty appearance and the same for the dog bowl in the restaurant. This is really disappointing - surely a pet friendly hotel can offer water and a treat or two? We paid £340 for the above (thankfully we had only booked a one night stay). Whilst I realise Glencoe is a tourist destination and more expensive than some other areas, this cost cannot be justified for such a poor accommodation and service. I have travelled extensively and staying in many leading hotels of the world and believe me, I know what good looks like - even from modest establishments. This was overpriced and exceedingly poor even at half the cost. In conclusion, I'm really surprised that a company such as yours puts its name to a property of such a poor standard. Whilst I will also share this revue with the General Manager of the Glencoe Inn, I would very much like to receive your response to the points I make. This experience will certainly make me hesitate to book any further accommodation with Pets Pyjamas (and we travel often with our dogs) and likewise hesitant to recommend your services to others.
