“Staff were very friendly especially towards our Chocolate Lab! 10 out of 10 Disappointing aspects was the room which wasn’t very clean.. bathroom extraction fan full of dirt/dust, stains on chair, lampshades dusty as well as dirty/dusty skirting boards. Using the shower was a complete nightmare due to no water flow more times than not! With regards to the food .. this was below average! Bacon each morning was completely dry and uneatable! On our second evening we went down to dinner whereby we felt shoved in the corner while eating as the entertainment was being set up. I appreciate we were in the bar area because we had our dog with us but all the tables were just ambushed around us! Ordered a Steak baguette for dinner ….turned out to be pulled beef rather than steak! Disappointing! The plus side… the gardens were lovely!”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Bedrooms need bins with lids for empty dog food tins, sanitary items etc.

“The stay was generally good, the location, style of hotel and gardens nice. The pool was a nice addition, but the hotel does need some improvements, it's a bit tired in places. We were a bit forgotten as the only couple having breakfast with a dog in the separate room, second day breakfast was not laid out and seemed a little chaotic, hardly anything left and had to wait a while for extra food to be available. But saying that, there were friendly and nice staff too and we still enjoyed the visit. With some improvements it could be great.”

“A lovely couple of nights at The Northfields Hotel, comfortable beds, lovely and warm, food excellent, Hotel a bit tired, and the water could of been hotter, wasn’t able to run a bath, the gardens were kept beautifully and a short walk to the sea”

“We have just spent a very relaxing week at this hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Lola, our dog, was made very welcome and our holiday was so much enhanced by being able to take her to the dining room with us. The food was very good and the portions more than generous.”

“When arrived staff were good gave us the talk and gave us our room keys. When in the room their was dust on chairs, even a feather on the corner where back meets arm rest clearly not had a deep clean for a while. Was transferred to another room which was better but the slats on the Venetian blind was dusty, we stayed In this room could not be bothered to say anything. Food was okay and staff lovely. On checkout was given a bill which included the hotel stay which I had already paid for to Pets pyjamas, hotel was not aware of this.”

“My owners and I had a wonderful visit to the Northfield. We had lots of lovely walks around Minehead and there were many places we could all go to eat. The people and other dogs in Minehead were very friendly, and the hotel had a huge garden. It was right close to the seafront with a big beach when the tide was out. The hotel was very comfortable for us.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? They need to improve their dinner service in that meals should be as on the menu, what is ordered should arrive and should be of a better quality.

“Our room was spacious and all we required. The staff were friendly to us and our dog. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and toast together with a choice of cooked breakfast. They even brought our dog a sausage both mornings. The evening meals really let it down though. On the first evening, my partner's soup never arrived. They brought our main courses but no soup. My scampi was fine, no complaints, but my partner's steak had salt on it which totally ruined it for him. The second night, I had Spinach Ravioli and there was hardly any of it, just 6 or 7 squares on the bottom of the dish. There's more in a tin and it wasn't worth the £12 stated on the menu! My partner ordered Ale Steak Pie with mashed potato but it came with chips and no gravy so was very dry. We were not the only ones to have these problems. Another couple sent their meals back. Clearly there was a serious problem in the kitchens. We would stay there again as it is in a brilliant location, dog friendly and spacious rooms. However, we would not consider having an evening meal there again.”
