Having left our initial booking as it wasn't suitable for the dog we arrived with an element of concern but received a warm welcome from very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is on 22 acres of land leading onto the lake. Perfect for the 4 legged one who was allowed to roam at will. The room was spacious and perfectly clean, with a large bathroom and ideal for the 3 of us. The food was good although a little pricey for what we got but the grounds and staff made up for it. Would stay again.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Maybe old plumbing might need an upgrade, but it was fine. Recommend also a door mat for the patio door.
Great stay. Hotel team all very welcoming and helpful. Hotel facilities simple, but stylish. Really enjoyed the decor and the architecture. Well maintained, as well as kept clean and tidy. Lounges very comfortable, and the only time which I’ve actually wanted to spend time in a hotel lounge. Reading a book with a pot of coffee - lovely. Slightly unclear as to where dogs were and weren’t allowed, with some conflicting info, but they seemed very relaxed about it. And there’s definitely a dog friendly part of the dining room. Grounds and scenery stunning, right down to the lake with views across to the fells beyond. Food very good, with a simple bar/lounge/room service menu, and a more extravagant restaurant menu, which was excellent. Lovely breakfast options. Dog friendly rooms with a patio door opening directly into the gardens, and there’s a handy dog bin nearby, which was all perfect.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Reception staff were fine, when complaint was made she commented ‘ we’ve had several other complaints about that member of staff’!
We have stayed in several other pets pyjama hotels, all provided a better doggy welcome...no bed or bowls in room, had to ask for dog bowls, the only ‘treat’ Was a communal jar of dog biscuits in the conservatory. Poor service at breakfast for guests...could not accommodate ‘dairy free ‘ on many items on the menu as pre-prepared and no kitchen staff to make from scratch. Really poor for a 4* hotel. Our waiter even found the request for ‘no butter on the toast’ difficult to manage and described us to another guest as a difficult table! We did submit a formal complaint. £263 per room for bed and breakfast - don’t recommend booking!

Hello Sue, We are sorry that your stay at Leeming House, Cumbria did not go to plan at all, and was such a disappointing experience. We pride ourselves not only on our wonderful Pet Concierge Team, but also the fantastic properties we work with so we are let down to know we failed you on this occasion. Unfortunately not all our partner properties are able to include 'doggie extras' so if you have stayed at a property before which was able to provide additional items for your dog, this is not always the case for some hotels. Rest assured we have passed your comments onto the team at Leeming House and will continue to work closely with them, ensuring everything is as good as it should be. Thank you, Lauren

Just to let you know that I had booked Leeming House for two nights, but left after one. The room was terrible - very dark and cramped - in spite of the huge cost. The door leading out from the room was in a row with other 'dog friendly' rooms, ensuring unwanted encounters with other residents and their dogs - no privacy. And the grounds did not lead onto any dog walks - the only ones were a car journey away. The hotel seemed to be struggling - no doubt because of the covid lockdown - and although the staff were friendly, there was a general atmosphere of chaos, with no clear rules about which public rooms the dogs were allowed in. I think you should remove this hotel from your list.

We had a wonderful time at Leeming House. Hotel was lovely and staff were excellent! Really made us feel welcome and made a huge fuss of our puppy
