We enjoyed our two night stay at Barony Castle. It's genuinely dog friendly and has extensive grounds for walks. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. We ate in the bar the first night, which was OK, but decided to eat in Peebles the second night and didn't regret that choice.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Not all the rooms in the same cost basis are comparable which was very disappointing
The Castle was amazing however we booked to junior suites and the one we had was amazing-super size for a Newfie but the other room our family were assigned was nothing like ours so we upgraded their room £50 each night to get them a room which was newly refurbished and on par with ours. Very disappointing as they insisted both original rooms were the same. As family did not have a dog they initially appeared to end up in a doggy room as it had slobber in a couple of spots -not good for non doggy people. Food was good - but other than friendly greeting there was nothing for the dog -no greeting package to say hello. Stairs and elevator so dog could go up to room but as Moose was new to stairs it was a challenge so we limited trips with him to room. Large grass field for dogs to chase balls in was at entrance to hotel parking lot.

Stayed for three nights mid week. Was fairly busy but couldn't fault the service. A lot of the staff were new but did well. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we were able to check in early which was great. The food was good although on our first night the meat was very salty in the steak pie. The hotel is a bit dated but this didn't bother us as the rooms were clean and comfortable. Our dog was also made welcome and the room we were in was situated at the end of a corridor (119) which meant not much footfall to disturb him in the mornings. Also had a facial in the spa which was amazing and well worth the price. Didn't use the pool so can't comment. The grounds of the hotel were also lovely and we spent a lot of time in the outside courtyard as the weather was really good. Within the grounds is the 'Polish map of Scotland ' made from rocks by a Polish man after the 2nd World War. Worth a visit. There's also an Inn just outside the hotel grounds called the Horshoe Inn. The food here was first class, if a bit pricey, but worth it . Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definately return

My puppy and myself stayed there for 3 nights. First thing you noticed is how the dog friendly rooms are dated, with pieces missing. I had to request a change of room as the mattress was so hard that it would have been easier sleeping on the floor. The new room needed even more maintenance than the original one, the bathroom door was damaged, no toilet roll handle. The carpet was dirty (stains on it). I understand it is a dog friendly room, however the quality should be maintained. The owner had 1 year during lockdown to complete some required maintenance. The staff was pleasant and helpful when I needed to. Breakfast was okay, not a wide range for the continental one. Fish and chip was very good, same for the cocktails.

Wow... really don’t know where to start as we have been completely blown away with how welcoming and friendly the staff where here at barony. My partner and me were coming here with our nearly 2 year old black Labrador Winston for our first trip with the dog and the reception we received from (forgive me if I am wrong) Shannon on the desk was incredible. She was so helpful checking us in and letting us know where we could have the dog in the hotel, and about the trails surrounding the grounds to take him a good walk. Not only helpful to us, but she was very pleased to see our boy and made sure he was given lots of attention too it was honestly brilliant and set us up to feel super at ease in the hotel with him. The food was beautiful too, and the bar staff, especially Nathan. He was able to whip up a lovely cocktail and always seemed very approachable and helpful with a smile on his face. We were so happy that we could have Winston in the bar and the Murray lounge as well as the conservatory too and all the guests that were here at our visit were so welcoming to him being with us also which really made our weekend stress free and we could relax too. As a dog owner i rate barony castle as 10/10 as I genuinely can’t see how my weekend could of been better. Our room was newly refurbished by looks of it and very clean, the food, the staff the grounds were all fanstastic. Will definitely be back. It’s really sad seeing some negative reviews of such a wonderful place.
