Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? A little overpriced - breakfast was poor (eggs under-cooked and fish over-cooked.
A good place to stay for one night. It is worth noting that dogs can't go into the restaurant, only the bar, which is small. This caused problems in the morning as breakfast is set up in the restaurant; also, there was no food available on a Sunday evening, which meant a drive out after we'd already had a very long journey. We do highly recommend The Bolney Stage for their food and warm welcome though. Lovely space outside to walk the dog. Thank you PPs for finding us somewhere at such short notice and with many hotels fully booked due to the Marathon

The good - the food was excellent and the kitchen staff were very mindful of my wifes food allergies and catered for them brilliantly. There was a nice area out front (Rabbits and Squirrels abound) which our dog loved. Also convenient for doggy business. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable but there were some signs of aging in the room but I would think that typical of a property of this nature. The negatives, no doggies in the restaurant - which I understand but the seating in the lounge where you could eat with doggy was not very comfortable (for me). The table was small and getting two plates and drinks was a little bit of a struggle. The only other negative was that there was no where really to go for a walk from the hotel, and we needed to drive to get to somewherer suitable. So keep that in mind. Service was good and the staff were lovely. Doggie treats were in the room as a welcome but no dog bowls visible (we brought our own)

We stayed with our 10-year-old Tibetan Terrier for two nights over Christmas. We were able to visit family nearby and enjoy an afternoon on Rottingdean beach. Our room was perfectly located on the ground floor, but there was no direct access to the outside of our room to take Maia out for a toilet break. If you choose not to leave your dog in the room while you eat, your dog may eat with you in the nearby lounge. Maia was thrilled to receive a fried egg each morning instead of the offered sausage (She can't eat pork). We would stay at the Hickstead Hotel again with Maia. Thank you

My husband, Malley (Boarder Collie cross English setter) and I have just come back from a three-night stay at The Hickstead Hotel, On arrival the immediate impression of the outside of the hotel wasn't particularly impressive but the minute we walked through the door the welcome was amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Malley got such a fuss from all the staff and we were asked for permission to take a photograph of him, so that he could grace the "hall of fame" of all the dogs who had visited. The only room availability they had for our dates was a standard double (we would normally upgrade so we had a larger room to accommodate Malley). When we got into the room we were incredibly surprised by the space and the fact that the room had a huge bed. I openly admit that I am a "clean freak" and am embarrassed to say I take some cleaning products with me to any hotel we stay in (even the upmarket ones, but I have to say the room and en-suite were spotless. So well done the entire team for a terrific welcome, friendly professional service and a great stay - despite the rain! We will be back.

Scamps had a great break. He loved his new fold up water bowl and enjoyed his breakfast sausage. He’s now asking for a sausage for every breakfast!
