Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Please go with an open mind, don’t believe all the bad reviews you see on TripAdvisor as it is individual taste and expectations, very reasonably priced so you cannot expect the world.
First of all I was a bit sceptical as read a lot of reviews on TripAdvisor about the hotel in general not being up to scratch, old, dirty and in need of renovation. In my mind the architecture and features of this hotel are amazing. Yes rooms could be renovated and it could be made to look very grand indeed with a rethink on the furniture throughout the hotel… but the truth is the price does not reflect grandeur like the Ritz so you can’t really expect it. On the first day out dog had a little accident, entirely our fault for not realising he needed to go earlier (he has never, never done anything like before) and then when we did realise our room was a long way from the entrance and he just did not make it in time. The staff handled this situation amazingly. Overall the staff went out of their way to try to be helpful but you could tell that a lot were not experienced and temporary, but I think this is the case in most places now due to Covid and Brexit not just hospitality. The spa is very modern, up to date and absolutely amazing more like a hotel that specialises in spa days, not just a hotel that has a small spa as an add-on…. It has everything you need, big swimming pool, lovely warm Jacuzzi inside, and outside A glorious hot tub, various steam rooms… about five different types all in all. Food was okay (you have the choice of five different starters mains and desserts) unfortunately on the first night my salmon was not cooked through, raw in the middle… Manager was very attentive and offered to replace and also got a free glass of wine. The other nights the meals just came out very cold… Felt a bit sorry for the lovely Lady in the bar longe who had to keep taking them back to the kitchen, extremely embarrassed as she admitted food was stone cold… they seem to have on big parties of conferences staying for evening meals in various conference rooms around the hotel, maybe we were just unlucky because of this. I noticed the on the review below, that on checkout the lady was asked for £15 each night for the dog, so I was prepared for this and had emails of pet pyjamas available. Thank God I did, when I checked out they asked for £898 absolutely insistent that the bill has not been paid by pet pyjamas almost calling me a liar, of course it had been and I got my confirmation email confirming the £780 I had paid, to this day I don’t know where the extra hundred pound came from but they did not ask for it after I showed them the email…. No apology whatsoever. They do however have my husbands card details so we will just have to wait and see, fully expecting a cleaning charge for our doggies accident but that is only to be expected… so I would make sure you have any email receipts to hand from pets pyjamas. Overall not a bad stay, our dog was made a big fuss of by staff and other guests. However compared to the continent ( where we have lived) I don’t think England has quite grasped the concept of proper dog friendly hotels… Nearly forgot the gardens are amazing and must be absolutely beautiful in the summer months.

This is a very nice hotel, which is kept clean and serves excellent food. Elsa our cockapoo was made to feel very welcome, although the hotel is not particularly geared up for dogs, e.g. lack of bins for waste bags, no water bowls about the hotel etc. Unfortunately we had issues with our board, as the hotel couldn’t seem to grasp that we had dinner included as part of our package with Pets Pyjamas. Even after having been through this three times during our stay, they still tried to charge us for the dinner on the second night of our stay. I was also surprised that there was a £15 surcharge for taking Elsa on our checking out bill. This seems odd not to have been included at time of booking, given it was made via Pets Pyjamas.
