We booked for one night at B+B York and from check-in to check-out, it was a great experience. The staff are so friendly, there was a doggy bag on arrival (the rope toy kept this terrier quiet!) and even the offer of a sausage at breakfast! For the humans, the hotel was bright and comfy. Outside the hotel, it's just a 10min walk to the Minster, which made for a magical morning walk. We also were given a list of dog friendly pubs and attractions on arrival, which made finding an evening meal much less stressful. We'd recommend the Eagle and Child, which is just inside the city walls. Overall, an excellent stay. Thank you.

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my stay at B&B York. When we arrived in the car park, after a four hour drive from Scotland, my dog did bark a bit when he got out of the car. I went into the reception on my own to check in (while my daughter waited outside with our dog), only to be told by the receptionist that she hoped my dog wasn’t going to “bark all through the night and keep people awake”. I told the receptionist that my dog doesn’t bark through the night (and he didn’t on this night either), he sleeps right through. I also said to her that I thought this was a very unwelcoming and unfriendly thing to say on arrival. During the night, I was kept awake by a motion light in the car park which switched on and off all through the night (our bedroom was right next to the car park). I didn’t sleep at all that night. I mentioned this to the receptionist, who to her credit did offer to swap us to another room. However, it would be a double bed, which really wouldn’t be appropriate for us. On a positive note, the beds were very comfortable in this B&B, and the breakfast was very nice.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Gift bag for dog was excellent - but otherwise would not stay here again.
Basic no frills accommodation - expensive for what it was. Breakfast room noisy and tables crowded together. Breakfast unpleasant: soggy pre-prepared granola with fruit & yoghurt, burnt omelette, and the undercooked full English was inedible.

B+B is in a great location from which to explore York. With comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a great cooked breakfast that sets you up for the day, we would definitely come back!

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I booked through pets pyjamas as promised dog bed bowls etc & a goody bag for her. When I asked about this I was told that pets pyjamas hadn’t sent anything. This is advertised on PP website and I also confirmed this by telephone with them at time of book
B + B York was an average hotel a little steep at £109 but I guess York is very expensive. It was perfectly situated for the town centre & The cathedral. Our room was ok but personally I think needs freshening up. Breakfast was good & the staff couldn’t have been friendlier & made a big fuss of our dog.

Florrie, our Rottie pup, was perfectly happy. We didn’t leave her in the room alone, but think she’d have been ok. There didn’t appear to be a garden, and the girl who showed us to our room didn’t mention one. The room was nice with a big bathroom.

Molly and I arrived later than we had planned but there was a friendly face to greet us and Molly had a treat. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. We went back to the bar to get a complimentary coffee, which was excellent. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked and very well-presented. Molly had a sausage. A coded entry meant that we could enter or leave the premised at will. Parking is no problem even as close to the centre as this B+B is. The road is quiet, in fact it is a cul de sac. Tea and coffee was provided in the room and the linen was crisp and clean. Staff made Molly feel very welcome. I would book again.
