“We received a very friendly welcome from the owners who kindly offered us The Byre instead of the Hen Hoose as it was slightly larger, with a bathroom on both floors. Both homes were extremely well presented with views across the River Cree and farm land to the local hills. The accommodation was beautifully presented having every convenience needed for a relaxing and peaceful break. There are a number of walks from Newton Stewart, but the real bonus was a well maintained cycle/walking track from the house straight into the town centre. A car was not needed for meals out and the town also offered pubs and a cinema. The centre is an excellent base for short journeys to the coast and to Galloway Forest. There is also an awarding winning distillery a short walk away - no need to worry about driving after a tour! Max, our cocker spaniel, loved both the many walks and the accommodation which was extremely dog friendly. The three of us would highly recommend a stay in any of the holiday homes within Nether Barr Steading.”
