We were very excited about staying at the Abbey Hotel. Our room was in the basement, the final section accessible only by steep stairs with no lift. Our cases were heavy and, as we are 68 and 71, it was rather difficult. A young member of staff helped us but not all the way. The room smelled very damp. Staff were invisible or disinterested and barely looked at me when I went to the breakfast room. We had to eat in another room with our dog which was not a problem. The lack of attention definitely was. For the price we paid, I expected excellent customer service.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Mentioning in my note, hotel currently not in good shape due to heating and cooling system
All, > During last week I decided to take my wife away for 2day xmas break and enjoy the festive sprit, taking my dog Margo with us. > I searched several locations but decided on Bath booking via a dog friendly agent call pets pyjamas, I am always happy to pay for the best possible hotel and location and the reviews were very positive, and paid £550 for two nights B&B. > Well we arrived on time checked in to a freezing room 218, where clearly the air conditioning did not work as there was a portable heater was not on but in the room. We eat out in a nice place returning at 9.30 pm to the room which was still freezing, we laughter it off and tried to go to sleep after a 3.5 hour drive from Nottingham. However sleep was certainly not possible at all as ever 10 mins we had load continuously 15 mins boom which was like a plain landed on the hotel, this was then followed by water running in pipe for ten mins. This continued every 15 mins all night, which I have to say was completely unacceptable. At midnight I dressed myself and went down to the reception and spoke to a very nice man called Big, he fully tried to calm me down and tried his best but could not offer a option/room change so I couldn’t do anything but put up with it. I did try again about 2pm and neither my wife, Margo or myself slept at all. In the morning I went to discuss and the lady on reception Kara was very helpful and tried to assure me another room would be possible, we were considering just leaving but as we have pre-paid agreed to stay moving to room 120. Again the room was ice cold and clearly the hotel is not fit for purpose and it’s clearly many rooms should not be occupied until something is sorted out. We went got to bed about 8.30 the same noise started around 9.30 not as bad as the other room but still a major noise when you are trying to sleep. > I did ask Kara for the Marriott details to formally complain but she advise she has not got them, I am not happy at all and feel the value for money I expected was completely wasted. Finally yes we like Bath but that hotel is currently not fit for purpose and I pity future guests. > I would like to demand a refund but expect that to fall on deaf eyes, we will just not choose Marriott owned hotels in the future is a positive response is not received. > Finally both Kara and Big deserve some credit for handling my issues at the time, I know we were two of many who where complaining which will reflect on the hotel and Marriotts reputation in the future.

The hotel was in a great location, just a 3 minute walk from the Roman Baths. Our room had a great view but some people might be affected by the noise from the pubs nearby but it wasn’t intrusive. Breakfast was great as was our dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful. For breakfast, we were placed in the bar area as we had our dog, which wasn’t an issue. However when breakfast arrived we had to ask for cutlery, ketchup and salt and pepper. Dinner time we sat down at 7.15 having booked dinner for 7.00 and waited 20 minutes for the bartender to ask us what drinks we wanted. He apologised for the wait. We placed our order for food which arrived after 8.15. Again we had to ask for cutlery. So from the time we sat down it was over an hour to get our food. They did let us check out at 2.00 which was really helpful and gave us time to look around the Roman Baths. There is no parking at the hotel, you can drop off your luggage outside where you are given 20 minutes. There is 24 hour parking which is from £12-£15.

Lovely Staff who make you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a great dog friendly room once we upgraded from the original room which was just too small. Highly recommend this Hotel for location & quality of service.

Great hotel in a prime position. Small grass area for night time wee for the dogs and park 5 minutes walk away. Hotel were very accommodating setting up breakfast in the bar with the dogs. It would have been good if your site and the hotel had a list of dog friendly eating places. We found out the second day that one of the top rated food pubs and dog friendly was next to the hotel, yet when we asked on the first night the hotel couldn’t recommend anywhere.

Friendly service and tasty food but room was a bit grotty and paint work and furniture whilst modern needed refreshing. Room was a good size but had a very poor outlook; classic brick wall view. There were no common areas which we missed as room was a bit oppressive with no view. Great location but no parking, had to use public car park and pay.
