Great place, great food, great location. A little too close to the train station but that’s not their fault, but you can hear the level crossing beeping! But in all seriousness if I was to complain about one thing, the room is classed as having and enclosed patio…. it is not… luckily the neighbours were happy for the dogs to go for a mooch however we did have to construct some barriers with the chairs and table to prevent this.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Having never been away for Christmas before I honestly had no idea what to expect. It felt like people may have booked rooms but were actually spending Christmas locally with friends and family. We were eating alone at 8pm on Christmas Eve and I was sligh
We booked a Christmas package, which obviously creates a certain level of expectation. We received a nice enough welcome on arrival on 23rd, including being slightly amused by the 'American Werewolf' style silence that descended with accompanying stares from the local drinkers, as we entered the bar to check in. The package we booked included mince pies and mulled wine on Christmas eve and a bottle of sparkling wine. These weren't offered but when I asked I was politely told I could have them whenever I wished. There was then quite a loud discussion among the staff about needing to track who had received what from their different packages which felt slightly uncomfortable. The mince pies etc never materialised. I requested and received the sparkling wine on Christmas morning. We had a ground-floor room which was nice enough. The issues with the room were not significant enough to raise as a complaint at this time of year but did cause some annoyance - only 4 hangers for a couple for a 3-night stay over Christmas, only 1 spotlight working in the bathroom, radiator valve not working, patio area poorly built so it flooded. On our final night the switch on the bedside light fell apart in my hands and I received a nasty electric shock, which I did report back the next morning. I don't know what I was expecting exactly but was pretty surprised that we only found out after our arrival that the bar closed early in the evening on Christmas day. We were left entirely on our own from before 6pm with the pub locked and no evening food or drink options. We didn't even have access to fresh water, except from the bathroom tap. We appreciated it was their Christmas day too but I think we should have been pre-warned. The food, particularly the lunch on Christmas day was generally good and it was nice to receive the card and Christmas chocs from the staff. The listing on Pets-Pyjamas says The Dundas Arms offers fabulous, large Orvis dog beds, along with Snuffle Dog Beer in the bar, and a pet breakfast. None of these was provided or offered but it was nice to be able to dine with our dog throughout the stay. The wifi didn't work in the annex part where we stayed.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I did feel the rooms were overpriced at over £200 a night.
Warm welcoming pub in a lovely location. Very dog friendly with very good food and service. Please ignore the negative reviews, really not true.
