“While these are a dressier boot compared to the other Edward and James boot Pediwear stocks, I found mild inconvenience with how high the laces went through eyelets up the boot. I was constantly pulling the laces out completely to slide the boot on, and then re-lacing them after. Regarding the sole, I noted that it did not take to water as well as my Alden shoes, for example. It felt rubbery and soft when wet. My cobbler fastened some speed hooks and a rubber sole to these boots, and they've since been my favorite footwear. The construction is irrevocably impeccable, and the cordovan color has a unique luster to it when compared to color 8 horween shell. I don't know which I prefer, but I will note these boots are more of a burgundy than a plum when compared to my Aldens. Overall, I highly recommend these as either dress boots or casual boots.”
