Have got the previous two books by these authors and The Army That Got Away maintains their high standards - a beautiful hard back book with scores of photos and the story is well-told; you never feel overwhelmed by the substantial amount of detail. For me, one of the best features are the superb maps, which are in full colour, are detailed but still clear and actually show all the places mentioned in the text. Too many military history books seem to treat the maps as an afterthought and forget that the average reader does not have the same detailed knowledge of the ground, making the vague, over-simplified maps they contain a frustrating experience rather than enriching the text. Happily, this is not an issue in this book, which really does show the competition how it should be done! One final nice touch is the ribbon bookmark - simple but much appreciated! An excellent addition ot the story of the NW European campaign in WW2 - highly recommended!
