“Great narrative of the action of the unit. Wish it had more pictures but I totally understand not many survived! Maps are well done. Quality of the book is better than average but there were small areas of ink stains.”

“This is a fascinating, extremely well produced book. It traces the history of a panther battalion on the Eastern front from its initial commitment in operations trying to relieve the Korsun pocket to its own destruction with the encircled 9th Army at Halbe. The battalion’s story is told almost day by day with clear maps showing its movements and smaller scale ones the battles in which it fought. The text includes numerous accounts from the soldiers involved. There are numerous photographs, but this is not primarily a photograph collection. Especially at the start these show the unit’s panthers though towards the end these pictures become fewer. There are also pictures of the battlegrounds as they are now. All the pictures are expertly captioned. Physically this is a beautiful hardback, an extremely well-produced volume. Pictures are clear, the maps colourful, and the English translation is excellent. The authors and publisher are to be congratulated for producing such an interesting, high-quality history book.”
