“Positives first - it's a really bright light with a pleasing natural white colour temperature and although it has shown up the areas in our kitchen that need a good clean, it's made it easier to work in there. Negatives - The fitting is pretty flimsy although its flexibility probably saved it from being broken by the courier. My harshest criticism is the difficulty I had in installing it. In theory it looks easy. The fitting comes with a short length of twin core flex and a 'zero screw' connection block (of the type that clamps onto conductors using sprung lever contacts. On the ceiling side of the fitting are two very shallow wiring channels which are deep enough to accommodate the attached flex, but hopeless for anything else (e.g. the two rigid 1mm twin and earth cables coming out of the ceiling). The nice 'zero screw' connection block is also far to big to fit into one of the shallow wiring channels. It would appear that you're expected to make your connection to the house wiring and then push all of the lighting circuit wiring AND the 'zero screw' connection block into your ceiling cavity. However if the junction box for your lighting circuit is on an upstairs floor joist, right next to where the wiring comes through the downstairs ceiling plasterboard (as is quite likely), you won't be able to push the house wiring back into the hole it emerges from, so you'll have to somehow force it to run in the fitting's shallow channel and make your connections with the smallest chocolate block terminals you can find. Hiding the lighting circuit cables and connector blocks that wouldn't fit in the fitting's lighting channel required improvisation and I was not happy with the result. In an industrial setting with a suspended ceiling and easy access to the wiring circuit, it would be easy to fit, but in a domestic setting it's quite normal for lighting circuit junction boxes to be right next to the place the circuit goes through the ceiling so I'm clearly not going to be the only person swearing at the designers. If I was fitting it in an upstairs room I could have moved things around in the loft to allow feeding the lighting circuit back into the ceiling but I was fitting it in a downstairs kitchen and short of taking up the carpet in the room above and cutting a trapdoor in the floor, I was stuffed. A fitting with wiring channels at least twice the depth is required. It won't look quite so sleak on the ceiling but it would make installation far easier.”
