“My son is 2. It didn’t take much strength for him to give it a little wiggle bk n forth n the gate pops open. Quite disappointed. He literally opened it from day one. The lock at the top didn’t need much pressure to open just a click. There’s nothing stable at the bottom of the gate either to keep it from opening without much force. Needed to be a lot more stable if u no what I mean”

This safety gate is recommended for children up to 24 months and should not be used once a child is able to climb over or open the gate independently, as outlined in the product safety guidance. As children become stronger and more curious around this age, they can sometimes learn how to operate or apply pressure to certain types of pressure-fit gates. Pressure-fit gates are designed to be tightened firmly within the door frame so that they remain stable during normal use. If the gate is able to move or release easily, it may be worth checking that the pressure adjusters are fully tightened and installed according to the instructions. “The gate is sturdy and reliable so far. I installed it in our doorway to keep my 34kg Labrador away from the cat food. He hasn't challenged it so far, as it's enough of a visual barrier (especially with a towel draped over it), but I bet that it would hold up if he tried to push it open. The bars are too narrow for the cat to slink through, but she's young and agile enough to jump over it. Installation was tricky because our house is old and our doorframe is uneven, but the pressure fittings let you readjust so the top can be wider than the bottom or vice versa. Definetly read the instructions and don't cut the zip ties until it's in place, and probably replace the zip ties if you plan to move it. The gate was a bit stiff at first but after a few iterations of opening/closing it, it now swings easily and indeed shuts automatically. It is narrow, which we needed for the narrow doorframe. It does reduce the walkable width of the door, and it does require you to step over a bar, so it wouldn't be wheelchair accessible or practical for people with wider bodies or foot/leg mobility issues. Works great for us in our home though. Would definetly recommend to friends and would buy another if we needed it for another door.”
