“Bars look quite good when they are on the car. Feels quite solid. I have driven and not much wind noise.
I did find it difficult to judge which bolts on the instructions should be used in which part of the assembly.
Also, some bolts were simply not long enough and I had to substitute them with my own bolts.”
Hello Mr Dashley,
Sorry to read this. The kit should have the correct length bolts for your application, and if this was not the case and you still need replacement bolts please let us know and we can send them out for you.
“Bolted to roof rails, rather than clamping onto them, making the fitment perhaps more permanent than necessary. Keep as many of the bolts as possible slack until you fit the lockable end caps - they're a nightmare if there's no 'give' in the brackets (obviously some bolts, especially those covered by the end caps need to be torqued up first). I'd recommend some thread lock too. Once fitted, they look pretty good, and aside from some slight 'boomy' wind noise, they're relatively quiet. Fitted to take J-Bars and a couple of kayaks - wish me luck!”
Hi Tim.
Unfortunately it is only the OEM roof bars that utilise the rails to attach roof bars, all other manufacturers use the fixed point method of attachment. We would not recommend the use of thread lock as this will definitely make them a more permanent feature.
Kind regards.
