“First off, the fit of the shoes is fine. I need the 2E width and New Balance are one of the few manufacturers to supply this need.
I have two niggles with this shoe. The first one is that it feels “dead” under the ball of the foot, the 1080s I have are much more springy. The second problem I had was with the heel counter - this rubbed the skin off my ankle, just below the Achilles, losing me a few days of training - again, my 1080 road shoes never gave me any problem like this. To be fair, the second problem may improve as the shoes wear-in.
So far, it’s not been wet enough to see how grippy the soles are; they’re fine over sand, but the 1080s are as well - the tread pattern also looks identical.
Would I buy them again? Ask me in six months, but probably not.”
