“Early yet and I haven't put many miles on the Zephyr; but early thoughts are interesting. They are confusing me at the moment; somehow firm and cushioned at the same time. They took a few miles to "break in" or soften up. The plate is definitely noticeable; but not in a supershoe manner (VaporFly, AlphaFly, Carbon X, etc). Whilst it adds stiffness; there is much more plantar flex than in any of the supershoes. It is possible to flex the sole in a way that you can't on others. It does seem to add some pop; but I notice it more in terms of stability. There is a good feeling of land and forward flex; with little torsion. A really solid, planted feel.
The cushioning is also nothing like the carbon plated shoes. It is firm, but with a degree of damping. This is what I find hard to describe. They are for sure not squishy; and if you come to them from maximalist shoes; you may find them harsh. But there is a nice damping effect on impact.
Other than that, foot shape is great, nice lockdown on the midfoot and comfy upper.”
