The first 10k run I did in them were superb, fitted perfectly, felt really comfortable on, no issues with squashed toes like most other brands and gripped icy patches no problem

Amazing. Going from a heavy salomon xa Pro 1.2cm Heel drop with pronation support, with lots of foot/leg problems, to altra Lone Peak 4.0 instead. Everything is starting to become better. This is a natural shoe for natural healthy strong feet and legs. We dont need support and Heel drop. We are born natural so lets walk and run in something natural. Of course there will be some time transitioning. I love Theese shoes. My girlfriend bought altra Lone Peak before me. Her back and knee problems are now gone.

I have wide feet with high arches. Consequently it's difficult to find shoes that fit well. I recently came across Altra shoes and they are some of the best fitting and most comfortable running shoes I've found. I also really like the zero drop, which suits my mid foot strike. I have a pair of Torin's that saw me safely through an Ironman marathon in September. I am hoping the Lone Peaks will get me through my first 50 mile trail race in a few months. So far the signs are good - comfortable, very roomy in the toe box even with my fat feet. The treads are not super-aggressive, so better suited to firmer trails than mud-plugging, but still grip well across most surfaces. They're quite lightweight and they look quite good too. I've docked them one star because, while rated medium cushioning, they feel quite uncushioned to my clumping stride. And they're also quite pricey, although there is a lot of great detailing, like the anchors for gaiters. So all in all, I would recommend them. If you have narrow feet, you might find you slop around in them, so it would be worth trying before committing.

Great shoe - feels a bit more protected than the LP3.5. I wore this pair for the whole of Moab240 and despite repeated toe stubs and lots of miles on varied terrain (hard rock, dusty roads, mountain trails) I never felt uncomfortable. Cushioning in the sole was just about right, a solid toe bumper and a decent enough rock plate. Not the lightest, but you don’t need that for this kind of race.

I do not actually have a pair - yet! Having had Altra shoes before, I was aware that sizing might be an issue, either too small or too large for my normal size 7 UK. NR only had a size 7.5 on their first delivery, so I took a chance and tried them. They where too large. So what I can say is that in my experience LP4’s seem to run to size, hence the 3 Stars. NR are hopefully getting some 7’s soon, a pair of which they will reserve for me, and which I am now confident I can order online and will fit.
