Better than the 1.5 in every way except looks. I loved my 1.5s in red, seriously traumatised now they are finally in trainer heaven and i cant get anymore. The 2.0 are definitely a better shoe, and I'm sure the following iterations are even better, but why are they so UGLY.? GIVE ME BACK MY RED 1.5 STYLE IN YOUR NEXT LONE PEAK DESIGN ALTRA. The cows and muntjacs are teasing me about my ugly shoes on my local trails. In all seriousness, once you try altras, you wont want to wear anything else. In fact you probably wont be able to after a few months, as your toes start to spread to there natural position, and ALL shoes become ridiculously too narrow. I have changed all my footwear to footshaped wude toebox shoes. All foot problems and pain are a thing ofvthe past.

These are my first Altra Running shoes, recommended to me for the wide fit. They are extremely comfortable and in my first run in them two days ago I was delighted with every aspect of them. They will be put to a proper test later this year when I do the St Illtyds ultra marathon - I have high hopes that my opinion will reamain very positive.

I really like these - a toe box that is actually the shape of my foot! I probably should have got the women's rather than the men's but it's often hard to get women's UK 9, so they're a little wider than I need but this is a good fault, if you can call it that, and of course there's plenty of room for thicker socks. I've used them in the gym and out hiking and they are so comfortable - plenty of cushioning underfoot, and the zero drop means that I can actually feel my feet working as they should. Laces are a bit of a fiddle but who cares. I'll be shopping for Altra hiking boots next - this is going to be my brand from now on.

I bought these as my ultra trail option for up to 100 mile events. Today was the first time it tried them over a chosen route that required some road work to get to the trails. As it was raining I was surprised to find that there was absolutely no grip at all on wet pavements to the extent that there was a real loss in traction. Once on the trail though I really liked the shoe, plenty of room in the toe box and a nice amount of support under foot. I do not get on with Hoka after 2 failed attempts so my shoe of choice prior to this would be Inov8 Trail Talon 250 which have taken me up to 74 miles without an issue. Looking forward to getting more miles in these and may even look at something in the range for the road miles.

Though I may have bought these 1/2 size too large (even given the intentionally loose Altra fit) that's no big deal. They'll just see me further without any hassle or risk of blisters. These shoes feel awesome underfoot and just get better day on day. I picked them up from the post office on a Monday and had turned in 100 miles in them BY THE SATURDAY. Yes, they're THAT good. Hugely recommended for aspiring Ultra runners. Have since went on to get the Escalante model, a more road friendly Altra. Zero drop shoes do great things for running form and addressing imbalances. Highly recommended. I can sense the PBs coming!
