“The finished item looks quite nice, but there are several shortcomings. As part of my job, I have assembled a lot of flat pack furniture items over the years and I have to say that this was one of the most unecesarily laborious to put together. In addition, I think that the material that some parts of the chest are made from (difficult to know exactly what as they are painted) are a bit soft and/or the screw fittings not up to the job. It was very easy to get to the point where the tiny 1/2" screws which hold the runners in place ended up just turning when tigthened with having been over-tightened them at all. Given the slightly odd slotted holes on the runners through which the screws go, I can see these coming loose and having to be replaced in the future. I have never come acorss this issue before in other similar furnutire items. The runners are also not fantastically smooth when the drawers are completed and in place. The other thing is that the holes that are machined for the cam locks are slightly over sized which means the cams easily twist out proud of the surface when tightened. Again I have never come across this before. I had to put a few drops of superglue on some of them as they were obviously going to come loose in due course. Finally there were some blemishes in the paint finish and a slight dent in the front of one of the drawer fronts. This particular chest of drawers was a replacement for a very similar (in appearance and size) chest of drawers from Homebase, and honestly the Homebase item is better designed and the detail items better of a better quality. Never thought I would hear myself saying that. So, it looks nice when you stand back from it, but unfortunately I can't recommend buying one. Sorry.”
